Freewheel hub for bicycles. The invention relates to a freewheel hub
for bicycles with cone clutch, in which the hollow conical part in a known manner
connected to the hub so as to be non-rotatable but axially displaceable and against the inner surface
the hub can be expanded. The invention consists in that this coupling member
is divided several times by several axial slots and to its connection with
the hub interlocking projections and recesses are provided that the
result in radial guidance when spreading. The parts are compressed by a
get around them, known snap ring. The columns have
between the individual sectors forming the coupling ring only such a width that
the ring does not touch the circumference of the coupling sleeve in the rest position.
On the drawing is the new arrangement of the overrunning clutch in one
Embodiment shown for example. Fig. R shows a longitudinal section of a
freewheeling brake hub equipped with this arrangement. Fig.2 represents a cross section
according to the line E-F in Fig. r.
Die Spalten i g
stillstehenden Teilen auftritt. In the case of the freewheeling brake hub shown, the known coupling sleeve, which adjusts the drive coupling and the brake by screwing, is used. This coupling sleeve 15 is by steep, flat thread 14 with the protruding into the hub sleeve 13 tubular extension of the drive 11 mounted on the axis ro and carrying the drive wheel 12 , in engagement. On the circumference of the coupling sleeve 15 a conical surface is formed which protrudes into a corresponding conical recess of a multi-part coupling ring 16, the individual parts of which with lugs r-7 engage in corresponding longitudinal grooves 18 in the inner surface of the hub sleeve 13, so that these parts in the Although the hub sleeve is longitudinally displaceable to a small extent, it cannot be rotated with respect to it. The parts of the coupling ring 1 6 arranged to the side of a stop 2o of the driver ii are held together by a spring ring 28 encompassing them and mounted in a circumferential groove and therefore usually form a coherent ring body. The columns ig between the individual parts have just such a width that the coupling ring 16 in its contracted position does not touch the circumference of the coupling sleeve 15, which in this case is slightly screwed back by it, so that in this position, which corresponds to the freewheeling effect, no harmful friction between rotating and stationary parts occurs.
On the cylindrical part of the coupling sleeve 15 is an expanding cone
23 provided for the brake sleeve 22. But this arrangement comes for the effect
the one above. The one-way clutch described is only considered to the extent that it is used for setting
friction inhibition is required for the coupling sleeve.
The overrunning clutch works in the following way: When the sprocket 12 is rotated forward by means of the cranks, the clutch sleeve 15 is placed on the driver in Fig. I. screwed to the right and pushed further into the multi-part coupling ring 16, which it initially presses against the shoulder 2o of the driver ii and then spreads, so that the individual parts of the coupling ring 16 are firmly .pressed against the inner surface of the hub sleeve 13, while the groove and. Spring connections 17, 18 are closed more tightly, whereby any free play causing wear is excluded. This firm pressing of the expandable ring 16 against the hub creates a friction clutch at this point, which relieves the rigid connection to a certain extent. In addition, the individual parts of the coupling ring 16 can join the hub shell evenly, which prevents one-sided pressure on it: This drive coupling also closes fairly gently because the resilient resilience results in the coupling engaging gradually. On the other hand, when the driver is stopped for the purpose of setting the freewheel, the.
