Description
Process for the production of tartaric acid. It is suggested. been the production of sugar acid and tartaric acid by the oxidation of carbohydrates to undertake. the oxidation in a suitable, in particular sulfuric acid solution with nitric acid or nitrogen oxides in the presence of inorganic catalysts (Metals, metal oxides, metal salts) is made.
It has now been found that tartaric acid can also be used industrially Yield is obtained if you use hydrogen peroxide or other peroxides, such as. B. Potassium, sodium, calcium, barium peroxide, in the presence of organic catalysts, especially peroxidases and oxidases, act on glucose in aqueous solution leaves.
The method is e.g. B. expediently carried out in the following way: A 5 to 10 percent solution of glucose is mixed with a concentrated fresh solution of peroxidase, after which the required amount of an aqueous solution of pure hydrogen peroxide is added slowly and evenly with constant vigorous stirring. The reaction is carried out at a temperature of about 25 to 30 ° C. About 3 kg of a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide are needed for 1 kg of glucose, whereby it is advisable to start the process with a 5% solution and to increase the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide as the reaction mixture is increasingly diluted. Because the resulting acid has the effect of the catalyst at a certain level. Hydrogen ion concentration disturbs or prevents, in order to neutralize the acid accordingly, carbonate of lime (expediently finely bonded chalk) or another alkaline earth carbonate is added to the liquid. At the end of the process, it is heated to boiling temperature. The tartaric acid formed is insoluble in the form of tartaric lime. The salt is cleaned in a known way and processed to tartaric acid. The solution of the peroxidase is expediently prepared from plant products containing peroxidase; Extracts from the. dormant grain germs, especially from the dormant germs of rye.
The yield of tartrate of lime is about 40 percent of that used Glucose. Instead of glucose, Biosem can also be used, which is glucose contain, especially maltose - but it is necessary that the same beforehand inverted, i.e. broken down into their components.
Instead of the diluted hydrogen peroxide, an aqueous solution or an aqueous suspension of another peroxide, e.g. B. potassium, sodium, Calcium, barium peroxide can be used, whereby: the amount depends on the content of peroxide. at. effective oxygen.
. Bei dieser, Behandlung von Hexosen und Rohrzucker entstehen nach C. F. G -r b ß_ _ E:., _:;J. B e v a n und C 1 a u,d e S m i t h beträchtliche Mengen von flüchtigen Säuren (Ameisensäure und Essigsäure) und von nichtflüchtigen Säuren vor allem Tartronsäure. It should be noted that the oxidation of carbohydrates, especially of hexoses and cane sugar with hydrogen peroxide in the presence small amounts of iron salts, i.e. an inorganic one Catalyst, is known. . In this, treatment of hexoses and cane sugar arise after C. F. G -r b ß_ _ E:., _ :; J. B e v a n and C 1 a u, d e S m i t h considerable quantities of volatile acids (formic acid and acetic acid) and of non-volatile acids especially tartronic acid.
In contrast, organic catalysts are used in the present process, in particular peroxidases and oxidases, applied and essentially tartaric acid obtained in technically usable yield.
