Description
Schweiß- und Schneidverfahren für Metalle. Bei der Benutzung von Gasen für Verbrennungszwecke, insbesondere in Schweiß- und Schneidbrennern, spielt die Verbrennungsgeschwindigkeit eine wichtige Rolle. Da die letztere für manche Gase trotz ihres an sich hohen Heizwertes verhältnismäßig niedrig ist, waren diese Gase bisher von einer umfangreichen Nutzbarmachung ausgeschlossen. Man hat versucht, der Verbrennungsgeschwindigkeit durch Vorwärmen des Gases größere Werte zu verleihen, ohne daß es dadurch jedoch möglich gewesen wäre, sie auf die für Schweiß-und Schneidzwecke erforderliche Höhe zu bringen.Welding and cutting processes for metals. Er besteht darin, durch Anwendung eines sogenannten Krackungsverfahrens die Natur des Gases zu verändern. hierbei werden in höherer Temperatur die Kohlenwasserstoffe zum Teil zerspalten, wobei einerseits höhere Kohlenwasserstoffe bzw. Kahle sich bilden, anderseits Wasserstoff abgespalten wird. Zur Ausführung des Verfahrens nach der vorliegenden Erfindung wird das Brenngas vor der Mischung mit Sauerstoff oder Luft entweder durch eine äußere Flamme stark bis zur Spaltung der Kohlenwasserstoffe erwärmt (Abb. i), oder es wird dem Brenngas durch geeignete Dosierungsvorrichtungen eine begrenzte Menge Sauerstoff zugeführt, die erforderlich ist, um die Wärme für die Zerspaltung zu liefern (Abb. 2). Hierbei kann die Verbrennung selbst durch eine äußere Heizflamme unterstützt werden.
