Process for refining the bitumen in lignite. For cleaning
the raw bitumen of the brown coal to light, hard for the purpose of its refinement
and highly saponifiable substances of a waxy nature is distillation
of raw bitumen (montan wax) currently in general use. Because the raw montan wax

dar.The alcohols in the montan wax are more or less completely destroyed during the distillation. It is precisely the decomposition products of the alcohols which have to be removed by the refining that follows the distillation and which, with heavy consumption of cleaning agents, lead to significant refining losses. When the crude distillate is pressed around, the soft to liquid unsaponifiable constituents of the distillate, which are produced by the decomposition of the wax alcohols, are transferred into the solvent and are thus completely lost for the yield of the marketable end product. While the raw distillate is obtained in a yield of around 66 percent from the raw wax, only 30 percent of the raw wax is obtained as marketable raffinate after purification. This end product is technically pure montanic acid.
The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the losses
in the cleaning of montan wax to a large extent, namely by reducing the
Pyrogenic cleavage of the wax esters and the decomposition of the per se avoided completely
Prevents valuable wax alcohol from becoming inferior hydrocarbons (olefins)
will. It does this in a simple manner in that the raw montan wax before
Distillation completely saponified and the saponification product afterwards with an excess
is treated by acid, especially with mineral acids, so that a mixture of
free montan acids and free montan alcohols are used for distillation. Suffering parts
are, as already described in an earlier patent, easy on their own
and can be distilled with a satisfactory yield. The advantage of the new process
compared to this older method is that a separation of the
Saponification components are avoided as unnecessary, rather the ability to be distilled
the saponification constituents - used to directly produce their raw mixture,
how it is obtained after the saponification of the montan wax and acidification, to be distilled.

welche bei genügender Verseifung fast auf 0 sinkt, anzeigt.after another known procedure

und eine V erseifungszahl von etwa 140'.After neutralizing the alkali and separating the saponified wax from the aqueous solution and subsequent drying, about 75 to 80 percent light-colored distillate is obtained from the saponification product. The further cleaning of the raw distillate only requires small amounts of cleaning agents, since these are not largely consumed by the decomposition products from the distillation present in the distillate, but can exert their full effect on the body to be cleaned. The yield of marketable end product is around 40 percent of the raw wax with the new process, i.e. around a third more than with the previous process. In addition to the caustic alkalis, the oxides or hydroxides of the alkaline earths can also be used for the saponification. The distillation of the acidified saponification product is expediently carried out with the greatest possible care, ie using steam and vacuum. The distillate is further purified in a manner known per se by dissolving or pressing with gasoline and subsequent treatment with sulfuric acid and (or) bleaching agents. Exemplary embodiment: zoo kg of raw montan wax are melted, mixed with 15 kg of caustic soda in the form of concentrated lye and saponified with thorough stirring and increasing the temperature up to zfxr ° in the course of several hours. The saponification product is dissolved in twice the amount by weight of water by passing in direct steam and mixed with 50 kg of dilute sulfuric acid. The acidified mass is separated from the separated acidic salt solution, rewashed with water, dehydrated by heating over zoo ° and distilled using steam in a vacuum. The distillate is dissolved in three times the amount of hot gasoline, the wax that has crystallized out after cooling is pressed and then refined white with ten percent concentrated sulfuric acid. The total refining loss is around 5 percent. The white raffinate shows a waxy texture, a melting point above 80 'and a saponification number of about 140'.
