Description
Purification of arsenic-containing phosphoric acid. Up to now, phosphoric acid has been purified from arsenic in such a way that technical phosphoric acid is combined with hydrogen sulphide treated, or that phosphoric acid was heated to over zoo '. The former method has the disadvantage that phosphoric acid is easily replaced by oxidation products of H = S is contaminated, whereas in the second process the arsenic is very finely divided Form fails. in which it is difficult to separate from the phosphoric acid. In addition, some of the phosphoric acid is converted into less watery phosphoric acid by heating transferred and thereby the work-up difficulties.
The important observation has now been made that one is phosphoric acid can make arsenic-free by treating phosphoric acid with hydrogen phosphide, the arsenic precipitates in flakes, which by filtration, centrifuging and the like. are easy to separate from the phosphoric acid. The technical effect of the procedure is that the cleaning agent does not contaminate the phosphoric acid can cause oxidation. Example. 8% phosphoric acid brings is displaced first in a clay vessel with a size of about 100 liters, which is provided with several nozzles the air through carbonic acid and then lets phosphine through the liquid rub through it, whereby arsenic separates in brown-black flakes. To At the end of the reaction, the rest of the phosphorous hydrogen is driven through carbonic acid from, diluted to about 6o percent phosphoric acid with distilled water, filtered the liquid and works it up in the usual way.
