Description
Guiding device behind the propeller. Guiding devices behind the propellers are generally designed in single-screw ships so that two wings of the star-shaped guide device lie in the vertical plane and be structurally connected to the stem. In this situation you do two things Task by forming the stem as a guide surface and the rest as a carrier Connect the device to the ship.
For ships whose -Steven is not particularly suitable for connecting with the guiding device is constructed, e.g. B. in old ships, results. well the special task of creating a design that has a permanent connection with the Portraying Steven without weakening the Steven. The solution generally used today This task is that of the vertical, as a carrier - serving wings of the Guiding device .. manufactured entirely or partially from cast steel and in long joints welded to the stem. In very many cases, however, the great difficulty arises on that with these already existing or without regard to the guiding device Steven constructed the necessary length for the vertical wings of the guiding device absent in the fore and aft direction. It is true that one has this difficulty through orders tries to eliminate, where no wing is in the plane of the stem and -the wings are attached to the stem by means of these holding members that encompass both sides are, as well as further connected by their upper ends to the overhanging stern Extension arms are held. These. But the construction has, quite apart from that, that it can only be used if there is an overhanging stern, the significant disadvantage that the forehead resistance significantly increased both as a result of the type of wing attachment on the stem Thickening of this as well as due to the unavoidable, especially with large screens Strength of the extension arms, especially at their roots. A practically useful one Solution of the task of securely attaching guidance devices to such ships as well, where there is actually not enough space for it, so provide this known arrangement is not shown.
The invention now solves the problem in a satisfactory manner. According to her the guiding device behind the propeller has wings, one of which in a manner known per se, none of them lie in the plane of the Stevens; also happens but the attachment of the device to the stem solely by means of a vertical Without widening the stem laterally. The carrier can; with it be welded to the stem and is preferably used as a hub of the guide device penetrating, uniform piece of steel.
The' drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention. Fig. I is a side view of one connected in the new way to the rudder post, behind the propeller lying guide device, Fig. z a plan view of the from Steering column separate guide device, Fig. 3 a horizontal middle section through the hub of the guide device and Fig. r1 a horizontal section through the same Hub at the height of the bolt holes. Fig. 5 schematically illustrates the stern reinforcement, and Figure 6 is a section through the rudder post and the beam welded to it the guide device with a hollow carrier.
In the new, behind a propeller i and between this and the rudder post - arranged guide device are arranged for example in the number of six, existing vanes 3 in a known manner such that none of the wings is located in the vertical. The wings are twisted by about 30 ° with six wings and by about 5 ° with four wings. A special support ¢, which is not itself designed as a wing, is used to fasten it to the stem a without widening it laterally. This carrier q., Which is expediently made of steel, is welded to the rudder post a over its entire length. According to Fig. 6, it can also have a hollow design. It is advantageous to manufacture the carrier ¢ as a single, continuous piece of steel, as shown in Figs. I and z, on which the wings 3 on both sides of the carrier ¢, in pairs (with four wings) or in threes (with six Wings) are combined into a special, cast-iron molding, fastened by means of spring wedges 5 and bolts 6. For larger ships and if there is enough space, a four-part design can optionally be selected, in which case two side wings lying one above the other are connected to one another by vertical bolts. The stem, weakened for example by a bolt hole, can expediently be reinforced by a welded-on piece 7 (Fig. Q. And 5). If the carrier ¢ becomes too long for execution and transport, it can also be cast from two or three pieces that are connected to one another by a butt joint with dowel bolts or by welding. If the space between the propeller i and the stem z is very small, the carrier q. in its middle part 8, as can be seen from Fig. lies at its ends.
This new guiding device can be used without a detrimental increase in forehead resistance even with such ships. Can be used in which the installation from the outset a guide device is not provided. The security of the attachment will nevertheless not affected in any way.
