Prefsmuster und die Verbindung derselben mit Farbemustern hat man bisher an Rundwirkstiihlen
nur durch Anwendung von zahnförmig ausgeschnittenen Prefsrädern herstellen können.
Wollte man damit nur an einer Stelle des Nadelkranzes, also nur in einem Langstreifen, Prefsmuster
arbeiten, so müfste das Musterrad mindestens so grofs sein, wie der Nadelkranz, eine
Einrichtung, die praktisch fast unausführbar wäre. Viel einfacher wird dies duich folgende Anordnung

In dem Nadelkran/o k eines Rundstuhles (Fig. 1) befinden sich Nadeln von zweierlei Art.
Die eine Sorte α (Fig. 1 und 2) hat sehr lange Haken, welche, wie Fig. 2 zeigt, durch
ein kleines Prefsrad / geprefst werden; die andere Sorte b hat sehr kurze Haken, welche
durch ein höher liegendes und gröfseres Rad g gepresst werden (Fig. 3.). Die Fadenschleifen
werden während der Drehung des Kranzes in der Richtung r, Fig. 1, durch die Kulirräder c, d
in der gewöhnlichen Weise in die Haken der Nadeln beiderlei Art geschoben. Die Nadeln a
mit langen Haken werden nun durch / zuerst gepresst, und auf ihre Haken werden die alten
Maschen durch die Zähne q des Abschlagrades h
aufgeschoben. Dabei hält jedoch das Streicheisen s, Fig. 2, die Waare noch so tief, dass;
dieselbe nicht in die kurzen Haken gelangen kann. Weiterhin werden diese kurzen Haken
durch das Picfsrad g geprefst, und auf sie wird die Waare auch durch die Zähne des Auftragrades

Sind nun beide Prefsräder / und g glatte Räder, so werden auch alle Nadeln, α und b
geprefst, und es entsteht die gewöhnliche glatte Waare; ist aber das gröfsere, g, ein Muster-Prefsrad,
enthält es also Zähne und Einschnitte, so entstehen auf den Nadeln b mit kurzen Haken,
welche durch g geprefst werden, ab und zu Doppelmaschen, also Prefsmuster. Die Waare
zeigt die letzteren aber natürlich nur da, wo der Nadclkranz die kurzen Haken b enthält, also an
irgend welt hen Stellen des Umfanges in Langstreiien.
Ist z.· B. das grosse Prefsrad g ein gewöhnliches 'Köperrad, wie man es am englischen
Schlauchstuhle verwendet, so bilden nur die Nadeln b Köper, und der Waarenschlauch
zeigt dann einzelne Lnngstreifen des Köpermusters. Natiirlicii kann irgend ein Prefsmusters auf diesen
einzelnen Nadeln b gearbeitet werden, wenn danach das Musterrad g gewählt wird, und man kann
das Muster an irgend eine Stelle des Waaren-Umfanges legen, wenn man die Nadeln b im

Zur Herstellung von plattirter Waare in diesen Prefsmustern ist ferner ein drittes Kulirrad e
(Fig. 1) angebracht, welches zu den von c und </
kulirten Schleifen der einen Fadensorte (vielleicht weifs) nochmals Schleifen aus einem zweiten,
anders farbigen Faden (vielleicht roth) bildet, der erst bei e zugeführt wird. Das Rad e ist aber
so klein, daft es seinen Faden erst über die langen Haken der Nadeln α hin führt und nur
in die "kurzen Haken von b einlegt. Folglich erhält jeder kurze Haken b zwei Fadenschleifen,
eine weifte und eine rothe — und, da die letztere hinter der ersteren liegt, so kommt sie in der
Masche auf der Waaren-Vorderseite oben auf. Die Herstellung von unterlegten Farbmustern in den Prefsmustern wird endlich durch diese
Einrichtung mit zweierlei Stuhlnadeln und Pressen sehr leicht in der Weise möglich, dafs man an
Stelle der gewöhnlichen Kulir- und Vertheilungs· rädchen c, d solche anwendet, in denen, wie bisher
schon bekannt, einzelne der Zahnlücken η, ό
(Fig. 1) ausgefüllt sind und zwar diejenigen, welche die Nadeln b mit den kurzen Haken kuliren
und mit Schleifen versehen würden. Es erhalten also dann die Nadeln b von c, d keinen Faden,
sondern nur die Nadeln α mit langen Haken; das dritte Kulirrad e giebt erst diesen kurzen Haken b
Schleifen von seinem Faden, folglich entsteht sofort lang gestreifte bunte' Waare, wenn zu c, d und zu e
