Abstract

To manufacture single-face warp knits having differently coloured areas it was hitherto customary to knit a number of courses with threads having two different colours. The threads whose colour was visible were tricot-stitched, while the threads whose colour was not visible were pillar-stitched. For this number of courses it was therefore the case that only two differently coloured areas could appear. <??>To increase the number of differently coloured areas for a number of courses, at least three threads (1, 2, 3) in different colours are used. The threads whose colour is visible are plain- or twill-stitched over at least two courses at a time, and the threads whose colour is not visible are pillar-stitched, adjacent pillar stitches consisting of differently coloured threads. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a single-layer warp knitted fabric according to the preamble of claim 1.

In order to produce different colored areas in single-surface warp-knitted fabrics, it has hitherto been customary to process threads with two different colors over a number of stitch rows, the threads whose color is to appear on one surface being tricot and the threads of the other color as fringes or processed as wales. In the color area, the visible threads of one color run in tricot between the fringes. If colored areas of a third color are to appear in the knitted fabric, then threads of the third color are processed in a corresponding manner over a further number of wales, together with those of the first or second color. This means that colored areas of different colors can only appear side by side in separate wales.

If colored areas with three or more different colors are to appear over the same wales, then it is necessary to carry out the knitted fabric in two areas, threads of a first color in both areas, additional threads of a second color in one area and additional threads in the other area the third color can be processed.

The object is to improve the single-surface warp knitted fabric in such a way that colored surfaces can be produced from three or more colors over the same wales.

This object is achieved with the characterizing features of claim 1. Advantageous refinements can be found in the subclaims.

In the drawings, solid lines are intended to mean black threads, dashed lines are red threads and dash-dotted lines are green threads.

In the state of the art according to FIG. 1, the black threads 1 are processed as fringes, adjacent fringes being connected to one another by red threads 2, which are processed in tricot layers. This creates a colored area in red. If a black colored area is to be created, then the red threads are processed in fringes, while the black threads connect the fringes in a tricot layer. The warp knitted fabric shown can either have only colored areas in red or black.

According to FIG. 2, there is a single-surface warp knitted fabric which has three differently colored areas, namely an upper red colored area, a middle black colored area and a lower green colored area. So three colors appear in the knitted fabric shown.

In the lower green color area, red and black fringes alternate with each other, while the green threads 3 are laid in cloth. The green threads 3 are laid over two wales between the red fringes. The green threads 3 can also be laid over more than two wales.

At the transition to the black area, i.e. In the course of stitch 4, the green threads are placed in a jersey and then continued as green fringes through the black field. The green threads run in the same wale as fringes as the black threads in the green field before. The red threads 2 are continued as fringes in the same way as in the green field. In the black field, red and green fringes alternate with each other. Starting from the course 4, the black threads 1 are laid over two stitches, that is, they run between adjacent green fringes.

At the end of the black field at stitch row 5, the black threads are placed around a tricot and then continued as fringes, in the wales in which the red fringes previously ran. The green threads are continued as fringes as in the black field. The red threads, on the other hand, are laid in cloth, again again over two wales.

Corresponding to the green threads 3, the black and red threads can also be laid over more than two wales.

The threads that are each laid in cloth determine the color of the respective field, while the colors of the threads laid in fringes do not appear.

The warp knitted fabric according to FIG. 2 can be produced by processing threads of a first and second color starting from one of two needles arranged one behind the other, while the threads of the third color are processed starting from a further adjacent needle.

In the arrangement according to FIG. 3, a black and a red thread are processed starting from needles arranged one behind the other and a black and a green thread starting from adjacent needles arranged one behind the other.

In the lower green field, all black threads 1 are processed in fringe, with a red thread 2 in fringe being processed along with the black thread for the next but one stitch. The green threads 3, on the other hand, are laid in a cloth and between two double threads 1, 2 running in fringe. They therefore again run over two wales, the number of wales being, as already mentioned above, not subject to an upper limit. At the end of the green field at row of stitches 4, the green threads are placed in a tricot and are then continued as green fringes in accordance with the black threads only existing fringes in the green field. In the black field, the red threads run as fringes in the green field in accordance with the fringes consisting of double threads 1, 2. All black threads are now placed in the black field in a jersey, so they run between the alternating red and green fringes. At the end of the black field at the course 5, all the black threads are laid again as a fringe, as are the green threads 3, so that fringes made of a black thread and fringes made of a black and a green thread alternate with one another. The red threads, on the other hand, are placed in a fabric layer after a tricot has been placed on the stitch row 5 and thus run between two adjacent double threads 1, 3 laid in fringes.

Such a knitted fabric is provided if its basic color is black, since the knitted layer results in a stable warp knitted fabric in the black field.

The structure of the knitted fabric according to FIG. 4 is identical to that according to FIG. 3, with the exception that the green threads 3 are laid in the green field and the red threads 2 in the red field are laid in twill. As a result, the fringes consisting only of black threads 1 are included in the green and red fields.

Claims (3)

1. A singlefaced warp knit fabric in which for the formation of areas of different colours the threads (1, 2, 3) exhibit different colours, and threads of a colour which is concealed in an area of one colour run as fringes and threads of a colour forming the area of one colour are laid in a pattern which connects the fringes together, characterized in that the pattern is at least partially a cloth pattern or twill pattern and this pattern results over a number of wales which is less by the value 1 than the number of threads so that adjacent fringes consist of at least two threads (Figure 2: 1, 2) of colours differing from one another.
2. A warp knit fabric as in Claim 1, characterized in that the threads (1, 2, 3) of different colours run through the knit fabric in equal numbers and the pattern in any area of one colour is always a cloth or twill pattern.
3. A warp knit fabric as in Claim 1, characterized in that in the fringes single threads (Figure 3: 3, 1) and double threads (Figure 3: 1, 3 - 1, 2) alternate with one another and in each case the single threads and one of the double threads exhibit the same colour and in the areas of this one colour the threads of this colour are laid in a tricot pattern.
