Description

It has been found that the acid resins, which arise during mineral and tar oil cleaning (see patent specification 262333) and which can be used as tanning agents for themselves, have a very special effect exercise on a range of vegetable tanning agents and dyes. The same is true of acid resins, which are not obtained in the indicated way. They are special for this purpose, the products can be used which are produced by condensation of sulfonated natural Hydrocarbons, such as asphalt, earth wax, ceresin or paraffin, are produced can (see French patent specification 5157t3).

The addition of these condensation products affects the poorly soluble or dissolving colored components of natural vegetable tanning extracts or discoloring or both at the same time.

It is known that quebracho extract contains a large amount of tanning, but has insoluble constituents which can be put into solution by various means tried to bring.

It has now been found that the compounds mentioned have a dissolving effect on the sparingly soluble components of these tanning agents act and thus these tanning extracts into technically more valuable products. The amount of the addition of this tanning agent for the purpose of dissolving vegetable tanning extracts depends entirely on the desired degree of solution of the extract. To achieve a heat-soluble extract, which gives only a small amount of excretions in the cold, 1 to 5 percent tanning agent is sufficient. For the production of cold-soluble extracts, an addition of 10 to 15 percent is necessary the sulfonic acid resins required. Also the degree of solubility and the character of the tanning agent obtained through the neutralization carried out in whole or in part of the free sulfonic acids present in the acid resins is influenced and achieved a faster and easier solubility of the extract, the more the sulfonic acids be neutralized.

Beispiel i.Example i.

Die Reaktion kann durch Erhitzen der Mischung unter Druck von 2 Atm. begünstigt werden.i kg of the usual natural ouebracho extract, as it is in the technical Farms are obtained by heating them on a water bath with 100 g of the sulphonic acid resins mixed and heated until the desired degree of solubility is achieved. The reaction can be initiated by heating the mixture under a pressure of 2 atm. favored will.

In the case of some tannin extracts, the addition of the compounds mentioned causes at the same time also a discoloration.

Beispiele. Most vegetable tanning extracts, especially mangrove extract, show a dark red color which is undesirable for printing purposes. It was now found that it is very easily possible to remedy this unpleasant property by adding the sulphonic acid resins of the hydrocarbons, so that the 'tanning' extracts treated in this way give the leather an extraordinarily light color. Ever after The strength of the desired degree of brightness is added to larger or smaller quantities of the Add sulfonic acid resins to the tanning extract. Examples.

i kg flüssiger Mangroveextrakt von etwa 22° Be wird mit 5o g der Sulfosäureharze unter Erwärmen gemischt. Zur Beschleunigung der Reaktion kann das Erwärmen auch unter Druck vorgenommen werden.1 kg of liquid mangrove extract of about 22 ° Be is mixed with 50 g of the sulphonic acid resins mixed with heating. Heating can also be used to accelerate the reaction be made under pressure.
