Erkrankungen des Analkanales, insbesondere Hämorrhoiden, können im Prinzip vom Patienten selbst mit der Applikation von Salben oder mittels Zäpfchen behandelt werden. Mit den bekannten Zäpfchen üblicher Raumform zur Behandlung von Hämorrhoiden und anderen Analbereicherkrankungen (DE 36 17 851 C2) haben zwar ein vergrößertes Ende und im Inneren eine Einlage aus Weichstoff, die am hinteren Zäpfchenende aus diesem über den Zäpfchenmantel vorsteht, doch bleibt auch mit ihnen die spezielle Behandlung des Analkanales problemvoll. Wichtig wäre es, die im Zäpfchen enthaltene Wirksubstanz direkt im Analkanal zu plazieren, insbesondere bei der Hämorrhoidenbehandlung, da hier in dem 2 bis 3 cm langen Analkanal die Hämorrhoiden sitzen. Die bekannten Zäpfchen haben jedoch im Analkanal keinen ausreichenden Halt. Das vergrößerte Ende kann nicht verhindern, daß sie sich unter Umständen aus dem Analkanal wieder nach außen herausdrücken. Von daher drückt man sie üblicherweise weiter in den Enddarm. Von daher hat die aus dem hinteren Zäpfchenende vorstehende Weichstoffeinlage die Form von etwa 10 cm langen Mullstreifen.
