Method and device for dewatering magnesium chloride dihydrate. It is already known that crystallized chlorine magnesium can be dewatered in a hydrochloric acid stream (Sonstadt. L_hem. \ Tews, VII, 1863, p. A94). It is also known to generate the hydrochloric acid required for the process from the elements and to use the heat of combustion to carry out the dehydration process alone. In the last process, however, much larger amounts of hydrochloric acid are required to dewater the magnesium chlorine, even if the radiation losses are very low, than (read in the magnesium chlorine - even if it is in I # orin from F-Ie @ aln-drat is present - can absorb water with the formation of concentrated "# 'alzsätire. In order to produce 100,000 anhydrous magnesium chloride after this experience. one needs around 4; WO calories without taking into account the radiation losses, while in "of k (m-centered hydrochloric acid required HL 1 -t la, uie: ig e with the development of only about 15,000 calories. This' -experienced is therefore not economically viable. However, this' -experienced becomes economically practically impracticable if In the same way, as previously mentioned, some of the hydrochloric acid lease is fed back into the furnace, since further low-carbon HCl gas is required for its preparation and combustion, and the hydrochloric acid production under addition -un - is further multiplied by water that does not come from the chlorine magnesium.
'Vorteilhaft geht man
On the other hand, one arrives at a practical solution for irrigation
if, according to the present invention, only about as much HCl is generated by combustion,
than can absorb the water of the hydrate in question. 'It's better to go
from a chloromagnesite that has already been largely dehydrated with the help of air drying,
z. B. your Dillydrat. As a result of the smaller 'amounts of HCl required here
and a correspondingly lower calorie development becomes external heating at the same time
applied, which maintains the feed at a temperature of 300 to 400 '.

The DihS-drat produced in the rotary kiln by the method of patent 353536 consists for the most part of porous grains, which enable it to be layered in vertical or other suitable retorts or chambers without thick layers of substantial resistance to the passage of the HCl gases oppose. The process can therefore easily be carried out in the vertical gas furnaces known from Leuchigas production. About 20 vertical retorts with a circular or elliptical cross-section are united in an oieui: luclc, softer with so many gas ducts (pervaded that the retorts can be brought to temperatures between 300 to 40o ° over their entire length). Each of these retorts has a gas-tight hydrochloric acid burner in its upper stopper, to which hydrogen and chlorine are supplied through a distribution pipe network. The lower stopper of the retort provides the outlet for the moist hydrochloric acid gases, which condense into concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid by means of compression channels The I-ICI consumption can be set in such a way that there is no longer a substantial excess of salt seed gas.
