Description
Process for refining oils. The use of the primal tar oils too various purposes, e.g. B. as a solvent for resins or for the production of Lubricants of all kinds, so far, is mainly due to their unpleasant properties The darkening, resinification and the often unpleasant smell of the same failed. These unpleasant properties have been found in the use of primal tar oils up to now only allowed as heating oils, while a higher quality use from the above as well as a number of other reasons. A cleaning of the Oils by distillation, be it at ordinary or reduced pressure, or by a distillation with auxiliary vapors has so far never been of lasting success. The initially light distillates obtained soon turned dark again, what especially in the middle, but especially in the high-boiling fractions in Appearance occurred.
It has now been found that long-lasting, light-colored oils can be obtained from all primal tar oils Kind can be achieved by a suitable acid treatment in subject to heat, after cooling the acid layer is removed and the dark ones Subjecting oils to distillation. The distillate obtained is colorless or yellowish colored oils which do not change in any way when stored for a long time.
Refining of crude oils commonly used in oil refineries with concentrated sulfuric acid, however, cannot be transferred to primordial tar oils, since they are largely changed as a result of their much greater responsiveness will.
The surprising observation has now been made that the primordial tar oils are used You can still refine with acids without too great a loss if you take the place from concentrated sulfuric acid used hydrous sulfuric acid, z. Legs 78 to 80 percent sulfuric acid. Furthermore, the sulfonic acids have generally been used the aromatic hydrocarbons, such as. B. p-naphthalene sulfonic acid, m-xylene sulfonic acid, -Benzohnono- and -disulfonic acid, very well proven. These sulfonic acids have before Sulfuric acid has the privilege of dissolving in the heat in the primal tar oils, whereby a very rapid refining is achieved. It is also important refining in the heat, e.g. B. at temperatures of = 2o to r8o °, to be carried out, whereby one with relatively small amounts of acid, z. B. 5 to zo percent of the crude oil, gets by. The yield of long-life raffinates is depending on the type of tar oil 7o to 9o percent of the amount of crude oil used.
It is essential for the success of refining according to the present process It does not matter whether you use the neutral oils of the primordial tar alone or the acidic ones Oils on their own or as a mixture of these two components or individual fractions subjects the same to this treatment. .A result of so general validity was according to the complicated composition of the primordial tar and, above all, in consideration the great difference between its composition and that of petroleum not to be expected in any way.
For the commercial utilization of the products from the primordial tars this process represents a significant step forward.
Beispiel I.Example I.
Man erhält etwa. 75o Teile Raffinat von gelblicher Farbe, welches nicht mehr nachdunkelt.rooo parts of dark tar oil with 4o percent acidic components from Boiling point 16o to 36o '= with 100 parts sulfuric acid of 60 ° B @ 6 hours heated to i40 to i60 ° with stirring. Once it has cooled down, the oil is decanted off the viscous residue and. distilled first with ordinary, later with diminished Pressure off. You get about. 75o parts of raffinate of yellowish color, which is not darkens more.
Beispiel II.Example II.
Beispiel III.iooo parts of dark, crude primordial tar phenols with a boiling point of igo to 30o ° are stirred with 60 parts of sulfuric acid of 60 ° B6 for 8 hours under reflux cooling heated to i80`. : fold cooling down to about ioo - 50o parts become hot water added, the aqueous layer separated and the crude phenol subjected to distillation. About -775 parts of pale yellow raffinate of excellent durability are obtained. Example III.
Zooo parts dark primordial tar neutral oil with a boiling point of 8o to 3oo ° heated to 150 ° for 6 hours with 100 parts of p-naphthalene-sulfonic acid while stirring. Work-up is carried out as indicated in Example II. 82o parts are obtained light-colored raffinate, which is light- and air-resistant and only has a weak, has an odor reminiscent of petroleum.
Beispiel IV.Example IV.
1000 parts of high-boiling primal tar oil, which boils at 30o to 36o ° and contains 33 percent acidic components, is mixed with 100 parts of crude m-1vlolsulfonic acid (obtained by sulphurizing technical xylene with a deficiency of chlorosulfonic acid and removing the excess hydrocarbon) for 8 to 80 hours heated to 150 °. After removing the acid, it is distilled. 70o parts of yellow, viscous raffinate with 15 percent acidic oils are obtained.
