Car body pressed from sheet steel, in particular for motor vehicles.
The invention relates to vehicle bodies for motor vehicles, which are made entirely of pressed
Steel are made.
The novelty of the invention is that the car body sheet
is stronger in the upper part than in the lower part. The impressions serving as wheel housings
also have further inwardly extending indentations for support
of the seat, and the lower end of the car body sheet surrounds the frame girder
and forms a flange for receiving the base plate.

Figure i is a side view of the side wall of the rear compartment; _Fig. Figure 2 is a plan view of one side of the aft compartment shown in Figure i; Figure 3 shows part of the compartment shown in Figures 2 and 3; Fig..4. Figure 5 is a vertical section through the front compartment and Figure 5 shows a partially broken away central section through the rear door hinge. The wall of the front compartment is preferably made in two parts 71 and 72 which are suitably rounded with their edges. Here, one of the parts 71 and 72 can consist of a thicker and stronger material than the other, whereby an increased strength is obtained. Preferably, in practice the upper part 72 will be held stronger than the lower for this purpose. The upper edge of the wall is bent inwards at 74.
According to the construction shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the rear compartment of the vehicle body consists of stamped steel sheets 5o, which are pressed into the appropriate shapes to form the side and back walls of the rear compartment of a vehicle body. During the manufacture of the side wall 50 , an inwardly directed indentation 51 is provided in this, which forms a type of housing for the wheels of the motor vehicle. Furthermore, an equally inwardly directed, smaller recess 52 is also pressed into the side wall 5o, namely in the lower part of the indentation 51, which forms a shoulder 53 (Fig. 3) which serves as a support for the side edges of the vehicle seats.
The wall 95 is then bent inwards, as indicated at 96
directed upwards over the frame support 61 and then bent inwards again at 98
and thus forms a shoulder on which the base plate rests.
