Description
Process for purifying raw paraffin. When treating raw paraffin With oxygen-containing gases resinification occurs, which makes an oxidation valuable Complicate or prevent products and smear the equipment. The known Process by which a white, oxidizable paraffin is obtained from the raw paraffin are 'cumbersome and costly.
It has now been found that one for the Further processing, especially the oxidation, preserves particularly suitable paraffin, if you use the slack wax on the one hand with bleach, on the other hand with superheated Treated water vapor in vacuo. Appropriately, one sends the bleaching ahead and then blows out the paraffin under a strong vacuum with superheated steam. A raw paraffin which has been pretreated in this way and is still brown to brown-yellow can be excellent oxidize with oxygen or such containing gases. It turns out that During the oxidation, the color of the oxidation products lightened to light yellow occurs while a yellow raw paraffin treated only with fuller's earth during of blowing with air, conversely, takes on a deep brown color and becomes oxidized not suitable. Those obtainable from the paraffin purified according to the present process Oxidation products of raw paraffin are those made from white table paraffin completely equivalent. Example. Raw paraffin, is used once or twice at zzo ° about 5 to zo percent fuller's earth, e.g. B. Tonsil or Frankonit, treated and that brown to brownish yellow product obtained between 140 'and 170' with overheated Water vapor blown at 5 mm mercury pressure until about the twentieth Part of the applied sealant paraffin has passed. The blown product has a pleasant tar-free smell and can be oxidized directly to valuable products will.
