Maschinen auftreten. Der Zusammenbau der Vorrichtung und die Einstellung der Messer
läßt sich hierbei in sehr einfacher Weise bewirken.Line trimming device for matrix setting and line casting machines.
The invention relates to a line cutting device for die setting and line casting machines,
where the pressure of the knife carried by a sliding carriage
recorded at both ends. Differs from the known arrangements of this type
the subject matter of the invention in that to adjust the knife carriage
a set screw with a diameter approximately equal to the full length of the knife
serves, on the edges of which the knife pressure is transferred. This device allows
precise maintenance of the parallel position of the knives in the event of one-sided pressure effects
on the knives, as they are used in order to achieve a scissor-like cut in these
Machines occur. The assembly of the device and the adjustment of the knives
can be brought about in a very simple manner.

The fixed knife 2 is attached to part i of the machine frame. The adjustable knife d. is mounted on a slide 5, which is slidable on the: knife block 3 of the frame. The screws 0 are used to fasten the knife .4 on the slide 3. The underside of the slide 5 can expediently be provided with a T-slot 7 in order to receive a T-shaped wedge 8 which is fastened on the knife block 3. The slot and the wedge can, however, also be omitted. The knife 4 is adjustable on the carriage by adjusting screws 9 which are attached to each end of the carriage 5 and abut against the rear edge of the knife. A screw io is arranged at each end of the knife 4. and protrudes through an opening in the carriage 5, while a compression spring ii lies between the carriage 5 and the head of the screw io and serves to move the knife d. to keep in contact with the adjusting screws 9. The slide 5 is fastened to a second slide 12 by means of screws or equivalent means 13. The second carriage has a spindle 14, which is provided with a cavity 15 which receives a helical spring 16, one end of which abuts against the closed end of the cavity of the spindle 14, while the other end rests on an arm 17 which by means of the screw 18 is attached to the knife block. The spring 16 acts on the spindle 1.1 in such a way that the adjustable or movable knife .4 is withdrawn from the fixed knife: 2, in that the spring acts on the carriages 5 and 12. An adjusting screw i9 with a relatively long hub and a diameter corresponding approximately to the full length of the knife is rotatably mounted on the spindle 1.4. The circumference of the adjusting screw is provided with threads 2o which fit into a nut thread 21 which forms part of the knife block 3. A hand wheel 22 is used to adjust the screw ig in order to adjust the knife for trimming type lines of different thicknesses. The handwheel is attached to the adjusting screw by means of screws 23, which pass through segment slots 24 of the 1-land wheel and engage in the end wall of the adjusting screw. The circumference of the handwheel is provided with a graduation 25, which is graded according to the different brands of the type lines. A pointer 26 is attached to the knife block, which allows the handwheel to be set on the hand of the graduation so that the trimming knives are brought into the correct distance according to the thickness of the type line to be trimmed.
Each type line cast from a die line is used in the known
Die setting and line casting machines are ejected by a device which
at the same time feeds them to the snowmakers. The trimming knives will now
adjusted according to the invention by turning the handwheel so that they have a distance
according to the thickness of the type line to be produced, which is in itself
Die setting and line casting machines are also known. The knives have to be precise
set in parallel and in this position during the trimming of the type lines
can be obtained so that the side surfaces of the type lines run exactly parallel.
The knife 4 according to Fig. 2 now has, as usual, a beveled edge, which
a deviation of this knife edge from a right angle to the line of movement
the type line causes when it passes between the knives. That distraction
of the right angle is desirable because it creates a scissor cut.
Of course, the bevel also aims to put pressure on the higher end of the knife,
which attacks the type line first. This pressure now wants the knife to turn
cause. The implementation of the subject matter of the invention removes these rotational effects
and ensures that the knives are kept exactly parallel. As can be seen from the drawing,
the carriage 12- carrying the knife 4. is provided with stops 27 at its ends,
«- which bump against a surface 28 on the opposite side of the adjusting screw.
As a result of this relatively large diameter of the adjusting screw and its engagement
The set screw has a fixed screw in the nut thread 2i of the knife block
and good grip, which prevents any displacement when the screw is under pressure
in the axial direction at any point near the circumference or at the same
receives. When with this arrangement the first pressure on the highest part of the knife
4 takes place, the stop 27 strikes against the adjusting screw at this end of the knife
in the vicinity of its circumference, so that the set screw fixedly mounted on its circumference
can transmit the pressure to the fixed nut thread 21 of the knife block and a
Rotation or displacement of the knife 4 is prevented. The stop 27 on the
opposite end of the knife transmits the knife pressure, and the pressure of the
Stop on its part is taken up by the adjusting screw near its circumference,
so that an exact setting and parallel holding of the knives is guaranteed.
To set the knife for trimming type lines
To change different strength, it is only necessary to turn the handwheel 22 until
the pointer 26 corresponds to the corresponding level of the division 25. The compensation
for the wear or the sharpening of the knife is mediated by the screws
23 and the segment slots 24 causes. If such compensation is necessary, it can
the handwheel is adjusted with respect to the adjusting screw after loosening the screws 23
so that the pointer 26 coincides exactly with the division 25 again. A
Compensation for uneven wear or an uneven grinding of the knives
is created as usual by the adjusting screws g. Dead corridor between the different
Parts and in particular in the thread of the adjusting screw and the support 2.1
balanced by the spring 16 which exerts pressure on the screw, however
an axial movement of the same allows the various settings of the
Effect knife. This spring thus holds the stops 27 firmly against the opposite one
Area of the set screw.
