Abstract

The switch has a U-shaped blast loop in the vicinity of the cooperating contacts (41), formed by an arc conduction rail (16,33) and an auxiliary conductor rail (31), extending to the side of the arc conduction rail (16,33). The latter and the conductor rail (31) are joined together by a bridging rail section (35,36,37) so that the currents in all the rail sections (16,33; 31; 35,36,37) extend parallel to one another in the same direction upon opening the contacts (41) to accelerate the movement of the foot of the arc towards the arc extinction stampings packet. Pref. the bridging rail section (35,36,37) comprises an open flat rectangle between the end of the arc conduction rail (16,33) and the auxiliary conductor rail (31).
