(KCI2) in 3o Teilen Wasser (H20), ein Normalpotential von minus 2,5 Volt, -das Magnesium (Mg) hingegen nur von minus o,8 Volt. Durch o,:2prozentigen Zusatz von Kalziumzyanid werden die Normalpotentiale beider Metalle einander gleich, damit haben beide Metalle praktisch denselben Edelgrad und scheiden sich daher gleichzeitig ab. Besonders wichtig ist der Zusatz solch starker Komplexbildner, wenn nicht die reinen Salze verwendet werden, sondern deren Stammsubstanzen, wie z. B. anstatt Mg Cl, der Karnallit (Mg Cl, KCl + 6 H20).
