Das Band 1 wird um die Verbindungsstelle herumgelegt, und zwar mit überlappenden Bandkanten und durch Anliegen einer Spannung an den Heizleiter 2 sowohl mit den Enden der Kunststoffrohre als auch im Bereich der Überlappung verschweißt. In die Oberfläche des Kunststoffbandes 1 ist der Heizleiter 2 eingelassen, und zwar in Form mehrerer parallel zueinander verlaufenden Windungen 3. Die Windungen 3 verlaufen im Bereich der Kanten 4, 5 und 6 des Bandes 1, wogegen die Kante 7 von Windungen frei ist. Im Bereich der Bandkanten 4 und 6 verlaufen die Windungen 3 unter einem Winkel zu den Längskanten 4 und 6, wogegen Sie im Bereich der Längskante 5 parallel zur Längskante 5 verlaufen. Die Strecke zwischen den Umlenkpunkten 8 und 9 im Bereich der Längskante 5 ist kürzer als die Strecke zwischen den Umlenkbereichen 10 und 11 im Bereich der Längskante 7, so daß beim Formen des Bandes 1 zum Rohr die Strecke zwischen den Punkten 8 und 9 zwischen den Punkten 10 und 11 zu liegen kommt. Zum Anschließen einer für den Schweißvorgang erforderlichen, nicht dargestellten Spannungsquelle sind die Enden des Heizleiters 2 wie bei 12 und 13 dargestellt, aus dem Band 1 herausgeführt.
