Die nachfolgend beschriebenen Neuerungen beziehen sich auf eine Handmähmaschine für kurz- und langhalmige Grasarten. Die Schneidemesser arbeiten nach Art der gewöhnlichen Handsense. Auf der Querschiene c ist ferner im Lagerböckchen 11 die horizontale Welle ν gelagert, die, mit konischem Rad r und Kettenscheibe k ^! versehen, die Bewegung vom Fahrrade F aus auf das Sensenkreuz K^ überträgt. Die verticale Welle n> und somit das daran gehängte Sensenkreuz K wird durch ein Laufrad R, dessen verticale Stange in die Höhlung der Welle w eingeführt ist, gestützt und geführt. Die Länge dieser Einführung kann durch einen Stellring u begrenzt werden. Die Streben des Sensenkreuzes werden durch einen lose übergelegten, geschlossenen Ring, der nach oben hin gegen Entweichen durch Winkel gesichert ist, zusammengehalten, fo dafs beim Arbeiten der Sensen ein Auseinandergehen der Streben vermieden und der betreifende Arbeitsdruck von diesem Ringe aufgenommen wird.
