Abstract

Adaptor between a microwave sensor and a commercially available spark plug, in particular for measurement of the upper dead centre in internal combustion engines, the adaptor consisting of a metal cylinder which has a cavity for receiving the upper part of the spark plug, and of a clamping device which by means of a rotational movement can cause a plurality of clamping rods to experience travel. The lower end of the adaptor is seated with a pressure ring in a sealed fashion on the hexagonal nut of the spark plug. The clamping rods are guided in guide channels in a clamping head sleeve and end above the cavity of the adaptor in the region of the spark plug bore. They have at this end a wedge shape which is complementary to the guide channel, and a toothed segment which protudes through an opening slightly beyond the circumference of the clamping head sleeve. When the clamping rods are made to experience travel, the toothed segments are extended strongly beyond the circumference of the clamping head sleeve, as a result of the wedge shape, and become clamped in the spark plug bore. <IMAGE>

Dazu dienen drei Spann­ stangen 5, die in Führungskanälen in der Spannkopfhülse 12 geführt sind. Sie enden oberhalb des Hohlraums des Adapters im Bereich der Zündkerzenbohrung in einer Keilform 6 mit Zahnsegment, welches im entspannten Zustand durch eine Öffnung leicht über den Umfang der Spannkopfhülse 12 hinaussteht. Die Form der Führungs­ kanäle ist komplementär zur Keilform 6, so daß bei Aus­ übung eines Hubes auf die Spannstangen 5 die Zahnseg­ mente stärker hervortreten und sich in der Zündkerzen­ bohrung verklemmen. Claims (4)

1. Adapter zwischen einem Mikrowellen-Sensor und einer handelsüblichen Zündkerze, insbesondere für die Messung des oberen Totpunktes bei Verbrennungsmotoren, bei gleich­ zeitigem Anschluß der Zündspannung zum Betrieb der Zünd­ kerze, wobei der Adapter aus einem Metallzylinder besteht, der einen Hohlraum aufweist zur Aufnahme des oberen Teils der Zündkerze, sowie einer Spannvorrichtung, die durch eine Drehbewegung einen Hub auf mehrere Spannstangen ausüben kann, gekennzeichnet durch folgende Merkmale:
  • - das untere Ende des Adapters (7) sitzt mit einem Druckring (8) dicht auf der Sechskantmutter der Zünd­ kerze (9) auf;
  • - die Spannstangen (5) sind in Führungskanälen in einer Spannkopfhülse (12) geführt und enden oberhalb des Hohlraums des Adapters (7) im Bereich der Zündkerzen­ bohrung; sie weisen an diesem Ende eine Keilform (6) auf, komplementär zum Führungskanal, sowie ein Zahn­ segment, das durch eine Öffnung leicht über den Umfang der Spannkopfhülse (12) hinaussteht;
  • - bei Ausübung eines Hubes auf die Spannstangen (5) treten die Zahnsegmente, bedingt durch die Keilform (6), stark über den Umfang der Spannkopfhülse (12) hinaus und verklemmen sich in der Zündkerzenbohrung.
