The steam-satd. hot air or the wet steam can be admixed with (i) caustic alkali, to impart certain light-properties, and/or (ii) permanent-waving chemicals and/or softeners and/or film-forming silicones. Before treating with steam-satd. hot air or with satd.- to wet steam, the hair can be treated with chemicals which act on the hair during the subsequent steam-treatment. Before treating with steam-satd. hot air or with wet steam, the hair is deformed with hot air without the addn. of steam. Before treatment in the autoclave or with steam-satd. hot air, the hair is moistened with water or with a mixt. of water and chemicals.
