Verfahren zur Gewinnung von Ammoniak aus Gasen. Bekanntlich lassen sich gewisse Gase, wie Ammoniak, aus ihren Gemischen mit anderen Gasen durch natürliche Braunkohle zurückhalten und daraus wieder austreiben. Es ist auch bekannt, daB weiche, erdige Braunkohle, auch Schmierkohle genannt, sich in Alkali löst, dieses also -zu Salzen bindet. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist nun die Ausnutzung dieser Eigenschaft zu dem Zwecke der Gewinnung von Ammoniak aus Gasen, besonders aus ammoniakarmen Gasen. Wenn man ein ammoniakführendes Gas über die Schmierkohle leitet, so wird das Ammoniak von der Kohle aufgenommen. Die in der Kohle enthaltenen freien organischen Säuren, Huminsäure, Humussäure usw., geben die betreffende Ammoniakverbindung. ' Ist die Kohle mit Ammoniak gesättigt bzw. sind die organischen Säuren als Ammonsalze gebunden, so wird die gebrauchte Kohle mit gebranntem oder gelöschtem Kalk gekocht, wobei das Ammoniak als freies Gas entweicht.
