Description

Process for purifying gases from hydrogen sulfide. It has it has been shown that for hydrogen sulphide purification of gases by alternating Action of alkaline iron oxide solutions and revitalization of these by action; from. Oxygen or air such alkaline iron oxide solutions that with the help of Oxalic acid was produced without the addition of tartaric acid and therefore in itself in the Are generally only slightly resistant, can be used with advantage in continuous operation, provided that the gas to be cleaned has noticeable or, better, copious amounts of carbonic acid contains. In this case, if, for example, a salary of approximately 5 to 10 percent carbon dioxide or more appropriately in the gas for a permanent more or less high bicarbonate content. of the oxalic acid solution is taken care of the otherwise prominent tendency to rapidly precipitate the iron hydroxide overcome in a surprising way. The necessary solution is produced expediently also in the presence of carbonic acid, d. H. d ierart, @ that, the releasing Alkali not in the form of hydroxide, but of carbonate or, advantageously, even bicarbonate and its mixtures with carbonate is used. The excess of alkali becomes appropriate not dimensioned too small. In addition to oxalic acid, other suitable organic Compounds such as glucose, formic acid, etc. may be present. Next became found that it is particularly advantageous to keep the amount of oxalic acid in proportion to be chosen so large to the iron that the dissolved iron is completely or mainly in the form of alkali iron oxalates, especially the double salts K Fe ('C, O4) z or K3 Fe (C2 O4) 3, is present, or starting from these double salts themselves and the still necessary excess alkali is best in the form of bicarbonate or its Add mixtures with carbonate. Such solutions are particularly persistent, too when the carbon dioxide content of the gases is low.

The required solutions can e.g. B. be made in the following manner: i. 26 kg of oxalic acid are introduced into 40 1 4% strength iron chloride solution and a solution of 57 K potassium carbonate in 60 l of water is added with stirring. The solution obtained in this way is allowed to flow into a solution of 240 kg of potassium bicarbonate in 800 l of water and, if necessary, made up to 1 cbm. The bicarbonate can also be produced while the solutions are being brought together from carbonate, for example by allowing the iron salt solution and the oxalic acid solution to flow slowly into the alkali carbonate solution while stirring and cooling, in such a way that only a small part of the carbonic acid developed can escape freely.

2. 300 kg Kaliumbikarbonat und 128 kg Oxalsäure werden in 7o01 Wasser gelöst und 971 4oprozentige Eisenchloridlösung langsam unter Kühlung zufließen gelassen; dann. wird auf i cbm aufgefüllt.2. 300 kg of potassium bicarbonate and 128 kg of oxalic acid are dissolved in 701 of water and 971 4% ferric chloride solution is allowed to slowly flow in while cooling; then. is padded to i cbm.

Both solutions can. z. B. for the purification of the gas mixture obtained by the reaction of water gas with water vapor, which contains approximately 2.5 percent carbonic acid, for example according to the method of patent 334524.
