Das Verfahren ist folgendes: Wenn der Ofen in der höchsten Hitze ist, sind die inneren Flächen desselben weich, befinden sich also in einem plastischen Zustande, welcher bedingt, dafs gegen dieselben fliegendes Material an den Flächen haftet oder sich auch einbohrt. Das in entsprechender Korngröfse vorbereitete Ofenfuttermaterial, z. B. reiner Quarz, wird dann in den heifsen Ofen vermittelst eines Gebläses beliebiger Construction eingebracht bezw. auf die bei hoher Hitze im plastischen Zustande befindlichen Innenflächen aufgeblasen, so dafs es an diesen haftet oder sich auch einbohrt. Man kann auf diese Weise den ganzen Ofen innen mit einer Schicht Futtermaterial überziehen , dann wieder aufheizen, eine zweite, dritte und vierte Schicht appliciren und so fort, bis man die genügende Stärke erreicht hat. Ebensowohl kann man das Verfahren zur Ausbesserung einzelner schadhafter Stellen im Ofenherd oder dem Ofengewölbe benutzen; es ist also für Ofenbau und Ofenreparatur verwendbar.
