Abstract

The strip like reinforcement insert for skis has a metal strip (6) with evenly spaced openings (8) and embedded in a plastics strip (10) so that the plastics or a suitable bonding agent fills up the openings. For alpine skis the metal body (6) is pref. about 50 mm wide, whilst for cross country skis the metal body (6) is pref. between 10 mm and 40 mm wide. The openings can be off-set relative to each other and can be circular, elliptical, triangular or oblong. The plastics strip can protrude over the edges of the metal body and can be provided as either the top or track surface of the ski.
