Abstract

It is known, downstream of combustion boilers of fossil-fuelled power stations, to scrub out SO2 and NOx simultaneously from the flue gases by iron chelate solutions. In the case of flue gases having comparatively high HCl loads, it is known to provide acidic HCl scrubbing upstream of the actual simultaneous scrubber. A disadvantage in this case is that the chloride loads which occur in the acidic stage must be evaporated since they are not passed on to an outfall. However, the evaporation is relatively complex and additionally introduces a landfill problem. In order to avoid these disadvantages, according to the invention it is proposed that the flue gases are scrubbed with iron chelate complex salts, which occur in the scrubbing solution, and the scrubbing solution is passed via an electrolysis cell and a part of the iron chelate complex salt is reduced from iron III to iron II and simultaneously the alkali metal chlorides in the scrubbing solution are decomposed by appropriate control of the current strength, chlorine gas forming at the anode and, in the scrubbing circulation, alkali metal hydroxide (for example NaOH), which serves in the circulation for the absorption of SO2/NOx and HCl from the flue gas.

Description

It is known that SO 2 and NO x can be washed out simultaneously by iron chelate solutions behind fossil power plants.

However, when there are high levels of HCl in the raw gas the actual simultaneous washer, operated with iron chelate complexes, a acidic HCl wash upstream.

These strains of chloride in the acid Level incurred usually need to be as the receiving water can not be passed, evaporated will.

Evaporation is a) very expensive and b) arises additionally a landfill problem.

In order to avoid the pre-washer and at the same time to avoid evaporation, it is proposed according to the invention to control in only one washing step, which is operated simultaneously with SO 2 and NO x with iron chelate complexes, in such a way that the entire washing liquid is pumped via the electrolysis , so that the alkali chlorides in the solution are decomposed and chlorine gas forms at the anode, and the alkali metals to alkali hydroxide remain in the solution as a residue, and thus an alkali cycle for the SO to wash SO 2 and NO x simultaneously 2 laundry is formed and no waste water needs to be released. Salting is therefore excluded.

The chlorine gases are collected and recycled fed.

Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described in detail above, but numerous modifications are possible without, however, deviating from the basic idea of using a washing liquid with an iron-chelate complex compound without the addition of a chloride wash in a single washer, the washing liquid in partial amounts of one Electrolysis is supplied, in which the iron (III) is reduced to iron (II), and at the same time the current is driven in such a way that the alkali metal chloride is practically split and decomposed to chlorine gas, the chlorine gas being able to be collected and recycled , and the alkali hydroxide is used for washing SO 2 from the flue gas.
