The purpose of the construction of a suction head described below is to reduce the risk of Sanding or Clogging of suction cups, causing not only the latter, but also in most cases the whole expensive pipe well becomes unusable, to be eliminated and at the same time a greater use of the pipe well and thereby to increase the productivity of the same.

As can be seen from the accompanying drawing, the suction strainer consists of two parts, the outer protective strainer α and the actual inner filter strainer b.

The protective cage α is cylindrical, with full walls in its lower part, but with openwork side walls in its middle part, the upper part (protective tube) is again full-walled; the perforated part is surrounded by a relatively wide-meshed weave to prevent the entry of coarser pieces of attachments. In the interior of the protective tube, inclined surfaces c are arranged in accordance with the openings in the side wall. The actual filter basket b consists of a slightly conical tube with perforated side walls, but a solid base; A full-walled protective tube can be attached at the top. The perforated part is surrounded by a close-meshed wire mesh, analogous to the previously used suction cups. From above through the bottom of this filter basket goes a pipe d which, open at the bottom, reaches down into the full-walled part of the protective basket. The filter basket b is movably inserted into the protective basket α and can be removed from the same at any time.
