Abstract
The four-port network has two arms of its circulators connected together and exposed to a shared dc magnetic field via ferrite discs. The circulators (1,2) are rotated about their axis (10) and/or the arms of the circulator are bent so that two arms of each circulator end at ports (a,c or b,d) that point in different directions. The ports (a,c) of the one circulator are rotated by 90 deg. w.r.t. the ports (b,d) of the other circulator. The circulators are realised using waveguides coaxial lines or planar films. The gyromagnetic ferrite discs (8-11) lie between the pole shoes (12,13) of a switched electromagnet or between the poles of a permanent magnet whose polarity is reversed by electromagnetic pulses.
