Man erreicht hierdurch, daß die Zellen und Fasern in ihrer ganzen Länge allmählich gleichmäßig auseinandergequetscht und voneinander getrennt werden. Wenn man das Holz vor dem Quetschen in Wasser einweicht und ts alsdann gefrieren läßt, so erreicht man, d'aß das Zellen-und Faserngewebe an und für sich schon in seinem Zusammenhang gelockert wird. Unterwirft man das so vorbehandelte Holz dann noch einem Quetschen, so bedingt das in und zwischen dem- Zehengewebe eingelagerte Eis neuerdings eine Sprengung und Lockerung des Gewebes. Das so erhaltene Rohgut wird in bekannter Weise weiterbehandelt: Man erhält auf diese Weise einen Stoff, der eine verhältnismäßig große Menge an unverletzten langen Fasern enthält. Da das Ausgangsgut keinem Dämpfen unter Druck unterworfen werden muß, erhält man einen Rohstoff von der Farbe des Ausgangsgutes, der auch sämtliche Harz-, Schleim- und Pektinstofe sowie Interzellularsubstanz enthält. Infolgedessen benötigt ein derartiges Gut bei seiner Verarbeitung auf Papier nur einen geringen Leimzusatz.
