Description
Process for one-sided tinning of sheet iron. The invention relates to a further development of the method protected by patent 3226go for one-sided - tin-plating of sheet metal, the latter with a tin-repellent Coating, made of alumina or compounds thereof or graphite, which is burned into the sheet metal. Further experiments have shown that as tin-repellent Substances also other carbons, such as peat, charcoal, animal charcoal and bituminous coal, as well as earths of all kinds or related substances and mineral paints are also used can be. The substances are rubbed with varnish or the like and applied to the sheet and baked onto it, whereupon the sheet is tinned in a known manner. That The partially tinned sheet obtained in this way is attached to the untinned parts provided with a coating which protects the sheet metal against rusting and therefore also should remain on the sheet after tinning. The coating is due to burning intimately connected to the sheet metal and adheres firmly and permanently to it; so that when processing the sheet metal into objects of daily use, e.g. food cans, does not jump off.
