Abstract
In a tire chain with chain strand sections formed from horizontal links (1) and vertical links (2), at least some of the horizontal links (2) formed by oval links and arranged in the area of the chain network are provided with support links (3). These support members (3) are pushed open in the manner of pliers over the horizontal members (1) assigned to them, then pressed together and welded to one another in the area of the end face of the insertion opening. The support members consequently have only a single weld point (11), which is located at a location where there is little wear and tear.
Description
The invention relates to a tire chain, in particular an anti-skid chain, with horizontal and vertical links, in the case of at least some of the horizontal links formed by oval links arranged in the area of the running network with transversely oriented to their longitudinal axis each enclosing both horizontal limb legs Support members is provided, which are also designed as oval members.
Kettenstrangabschnitten verzichten will. In a tire chain of the above type known from DE-PS 16 80 476, the support members of oval round steel links with one continuous and one open, d. H. an unwelded one Formed leg having joint. The attachment of the support members is known Construction is comparatively complex, since the support members use appropriate devices and tools need to be bent around the horizontal members when not on the application common and economical process for the production of chain strands or chain strand sections want to do without. The open design of the known support members also promotes fractures as a result of constant stress.
A tire chain in which links are simply, i. H. without great deformation effort from the side are slidable forth over horizontal links of continuous chain strands, is known from DE-AS 23 57 271. In this case, however, U-shaped members which can be pushed onto the horizontal members are used, and not as support members but to form nodes.
The invention is based on the object of creating a tire chain of the type described at the beginning, whose support members can be attached in a particularly simple, economical manner. This task will solved according to the invention in that the support members each have a weld in the area of one of their bends have touching end faces.
In the tire chain according to the invention, the welds are in a location that is not just a simple one and safe welding but also enables perfect deburring of the weld bead and which is also located outside the main attack zone of wear and tear.
Chains in the area of their bow welded links, which within the tensile formation of the chain or a Chain strand section are known. For example, US-PS 23 40 171 shows an anti-skid chain Bow-welded twisted chain links into the bollard-shaped Support members are used. The bow welding of the chain links was chosen here, because a weld seam located in the bow area during the expansion of the links when a support link is inserted is less stressed than a weld in the limb. The desired benefit is bought with a disadvantage, however, which consists in the fact that a bow weld of the train formation lying chain links the contact conditions between successive chain links are negative influenced. This is a point of view that does not apply to supporting members, not least because because are secured against pivoting movements by grasping around both horizontal limbs and here the Bow welds are therefore outside a * critical wear attack zone.
Stirnflächen der Enden erfolgt.GB-PS 5 33 269 also shows a chain with bow-welded chain links in a train formation. However, this citation is unable to provide a suggestion for the use of bow-welded chain links as support links.
The invention also relates to a method for producing tire chains of the aforementioned type, which is characterized in that the support members with legs bent up like pliers are guided from the side over the horizontal links of chain strand sections assigned to them, that the legs are thereupon in the area of their one insertion opening for the respective horizontal member delimiting ends are pressed together and that finally a welding of the contacting end faces of the ends takes place.
Es zeigtThe invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing. It shows

In Fig. 1 is a chain strand section of the chain net a tire chain is shown, which consists of horizontal links 1 and vertical links 2 The horizontal links 1 carry support members 3, which enclose with easy play.
In Fig. 2, the assembly of the support members 3 is indicated. It can be seen that the legs 4 and 5 of the support member 3 are opened like pliers and their ends 6 and 7 limit an insertion opening 8, which allows the support member 3 between two successive vertical members 2 to lead over a horizontal member 1. Then the ends 6 and 7 are pressed together, until their end faces 9 and 10 come to rest. Once it does, ends become 6 and 7 connected to one another by an electrical resistance butt weld. This is followed by deburring of the welding point 11. For pressing together the ends 6, which are beveled for welding reasons 7 and 7, the welding tools, not shown, are expediently used.
When looking at Fig. 2 it is clear that the attachment of the support members 3 on the horizontal members is extraordinarily simple. Closing the insertion opening 8 is also easier than closing an insertion opening, which is located in the region of one of the legs 4 or 5, as is the case with conventional oval members of the Case is. The fact that the welding point 11 is located in an area also proves to be advantageous in which the wear attack is comparatively low. The cross section of the support member in the area of In other words, the weld remains for a long time. The arrangement of the weld in the bow area has compared to the arrangement of a weld in the area of the middle of the leg also has the advantage that when Using the tire chain, do not constantly "hammer" the bend of the vertical links onto the weld, like that would be the case with welding in the leg area. Through the use of bow-welded chain links in other words, as support members, considerable manufacturing engineering and functional advantages achieved.
