Description
Process for the production of a weather-resistant paint binder. The present invention is based on the already known painting process which pigments with emulsions of solid, fusible bodies (wax, resin, etc.) as their binding agent, painted in cold liquid form. will. After then drying up arise more or less waterproof paint applications, their durability through pressure, friction (Brushing) the paint layer or by superficial melting of the contained therein Binder by approaching a hot object or otherwise suitable -shaped heat source can be increased. Melting or welding in the process the wax, etc. particles into one solid with the simultaneous inclusion of the pigments homogeneous paint layer adhering to the painting surface. - In this already in Greek Painting style known from ancient times, which at that time was called »Ganosisa and with the» Punic Wachsec - a wax emulsion in soda or potash solution - was carried out, and which has recently become the subject of extensive specialist literature, leads the invention instead of the wax with its disadvantages of being too light Meltability, stickiness (dust), tendency to mold and not unconditionally Weather resistance uses paraffin (ceresin, etc.) as an ideal paint binder. - The subject of the present invention is therefore a method of manufacture of a new paint binder for an already known painting process, which- relies on getting solid hydrocarbons in a finely divided state transferred and mixed with liquids. The fine distribution can. from the coarser disperse Progress to the finely dispersed state, in the former case with Mixing it with liquids creates a product which, after a while, evolves the hydrocarbon in the form of a fine. Sludge separates, while in the latter If a durable emulsion is created. - As hydrocarbons, which- in fine distributed 'state can be transferred, for. B. paraffin, ceresin and the like Substances are used. You can z. B. so proceed that. one paraffin after any the already known methods, e.g. B with the help of a soap, - emulsified, the then the emulsionator in a suitable manner, e.g. B. by Rinsing out the soap, more or less completely withdrawn and the so obtained, extremely finely divided paraffin now with one for the special use of the The end product is mixed with a liquid suitable as a paint binder. - As such all liquids can be considered that contain the selected solid hydrocarbon does not dissolve or at least with difficulty, such as water, aqueous solutions, alcohol, Alcoholic solutions, resin emulsions, oil emulsions etc. - depending on the paraffin in the finely dispersed, the emulsion, or in the coarsely dispersed, the suspension state, different liquids are chosen.
In the first case, it is advantageous to choose aqueous solutions of one of the known emulsifiers for oils, fats, etc., such as. B. Solutions of glue, gum, casein, starch, etc. - Solutions of casein in aqueous ammonia and the like, which dry irreversibly even in the cold, are naturally particularly suitable emulsionators here. The products thus obtained form whitish, slimy foods; -.- the irit opposites to the previously knownjewqr, # ie @ i ,, p. Solid hydrocarbon emulsions can be mixed with any color pigment. For example, a useful binder is obtained by emulsifying 25 parts of paraffin. solid. (S .: 68 ° to 72 ° C), to which you can add 3 parts of carnauba wax or similar substances to increase the melting temperature of the end product, in a solution of 5 parts of stearic acid ammonium, rinsing out the soap and adding the precipitated; extremely finely distributed paraffins with some casein dissolved in ammonia. After drying, this binder no longer contains any water-soluble substances and melts at around 80 ° C uses little fatty acid for emulsification, e.g. B. 2 parts of sterol with 25 parts of paraffin and 3 parts of carnauba wax.
For the production of a coarsely disperse phase of paraffin in one Liquid that does not dissolve paraffin, or at least only with difficulty, can do that z. B. prepared in the manner described, extremely finely divided paraffin with Mix water, alcohol and similar volatile liquids, which makes you special valuable suspensions., which after ('drying out only paraffin leave behind.
The products obtainable in this way are now extremely suitable as a weatherproof paint binder. You can mix the same with pigments and apply, as well as unmixed for the purpose of the mere enrichment of the color layer use on paraffin in the sense of a preliminary or subsequent painting.
The resulting paint applications stand out in addition to their weather resistance characterized by lively coloring and the absence of disturbing gloss. You already can A few minutes after application, they are fixed in a weatherproof manner immediately their final appearance and physical structure and later tear not. They are irreversible after drying or fixing by heat etc., are therefore not changed by further paint applications and therefore leave the most complex ones Painting operations too. This is natural with paraffin solutions in volatile solvents not reachable. They damage the painting surface. not, but grant him, like everyone else other paint jobs, some protection .. you have great merit, even '' on freshly hardened cement, on Eternit and similar, so far not permanent paintable building materials to sit well and permanently. You are sufficient Hardness somewhat elastic, can be easily cleaned of dust deposits and are considerably cheaper than oil paints.
