Process for the preparation of catalyst-containing alkali peroxides. It is known that alkali peroxide is caused by certain catalysts, e.g. B. Manganese superoxide, has such a high capacity for oxygen splitting under the influence of water vapor and carbonic acid that it can be used successfully to fill air renewal cartridges. For cartridges filled in this way to work properly, the superoxide must be used in the form of grains of a certain size. Too large a proportion of fine grain clogs the gaps for air passage, too large a proportion of coarse grain worsens utilization. So grain that is too fine and too coarse must be sieved off. This creates a significant amount of sieve waste, which averages 70 percent of the original amount. According to the previously used process for catalyzing the superoxide, the catalyst was added to the alkali metal used to produce the superoxide before it was oxidized to the superoxide. Only then was it ground and the correct size of the grain was obtained by sieving. The resulting waste, which, as mentioned above, amounts to 70 percent of the total superoxide yield, contains manganese and for this reason cannot be used. This made the end product so expensive that it was out of the question to use it on a large scale. Another flaw in the previous process is the uneven distribution of the catalyst. The average analysis of a large number of technical products gives the following result. This unevenness of the catalyst distribution in connection with the randomness of the grain mixture necessarily leads to products that work unevenly.
The described abuses are made complete by the invention
eliminated. According to this, the catalyst is only added when the alkali peroxide
is present in a suitable, uniform grain size, i.e. after the waste has been separated off.
The waste is therefore free of manganese and can be reused, so that the process closes
an economic one; a product can also be obtained in which
the catalyst is evenly distributed over the individual grains.

According to the happy process, the superoxide is first produced and ground in a known manner from the alkali metal without the addition of a catalyst. Then the grains of the desired size are sifted out and in a known manner by spraying o. Däl. provided with the necessary water content. Immediately afterwards, ie as long as the water is still largely adhering to the surface of the grains, a finely powdered catalyst, e.g. B a manganese melt (potassium or sodium manganate) powdered by shaking. The grains are covered with a thin, even layer of the catalyst. It contained xo percent of the grains 3o to 5o percent MnO "
