Schlagweite mithilft. Als Widerstand wird zweckmäßig der Dämpfungswiderstand der
Funkenstrecke benutzt. The invention relates to a protection device against overvoltages in electrical systems,
in which an expansion body that heats up when the spark gap responds, the spark gap
until the spark is interrupted. With a well-known
Protection device of this type, the expansion body is formed by a hot wire, which
is switched on in the spark current path and thus directly from the spark current flowing through it
is heated. The hot wire must be chosen as thin as possible so that it
quickly cools down again after the arc is extinguished and contracts and thereby
returns the moving parts of the device to their original position. The thin one
Hot wire, however, has a very negative effect on the precise setting of the spark gap, furthermore
it often burns out when the current passes through, so that the protective device is no longer operational
is. These disadvantages are now to be eliminated by the invention, namely in that the expansion body
not from the spark current itself, but from one switched into the spark current path
Resistance heated and so independent of the. Spark current is made, and that further
the resistor is connected to the expansion body and designed so that
it by its expansion as a result of heating the expansion body when enlarging the
Distance helps. The attenuation resistance of the is expediently used as the resistance
Spark gap used.
An example embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing, - in which α denotes the earthed and b denotes the horn of an overvoltage protection device, which is arranged tiltably in c. An expedient translation, shown in the drawing by a lever arm d , which is connected to an expansion body h , engages the horn b . A resistor w is connected between the movable horn b and the line s leading to the machines and apparatuses to be protected, which on the one hand serves in a known manner to reduce the current impulse that occurs during the discharge in the spark gap, and on the other hand heats the expansion body h in the event of a spark arc, whereby the. expanding body h places the horn b in the position shown in dotted lines. The resistor w is also connected to the expansion body h in such a way and designed so that it can also act on the spark gap through expansion as a result of heating. Damage to both the resistor w and the expansion body h due to excessively high temperatures is excluded, since the electrical spark is safely torn off even with a very small striking distance.
Anfangsstelle gebracht. In addition, the cross-section of the resistor w can be chosen to be large enough, since no special consideration has to be given to expansion, as in the case of a hot wire acting as an expansion body on the spark gap itself. As soon as the arc has been broken, the horn b is brought to its starting point by cooling the bodies h and w.
ίο The new protective device can be set to very small overvoltages without the spark stopping after being triggered. Since the expansion body h is not traversed by the spark current, damage to the body h is excluded, and the protective device is therefore always ready for use.
