An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing, u. FIG. 1 shows the ignition head according to the invention in section and FIG. 2 shows the circuit diagram of the thermocouples with a

forming electrodes, u. between here the inner one, in terms of mass, e.g. B. on the burner tube 1 ', lying electrode. 3 ″ is the other, here the outer electrode of the thermocouple 3. The outer electrode 3 ″ is electrically conductively connected to a thermocouple (counter thermocouple) 6 with an opposing polarity via a holder 4 insulated by spacers 5 on the burner tube 1 ′ and an intermediate piece 10.
The
The connection point of the intermediate piece 10 with one, here the inner electrode 6 'of the counter-thermocouple 6, forms the cold solder point 7, the connection point of the inner electrode 6' with the outer one
Electrode 6 "is the hot soldering point. The hot soldering point is advantageously to be arranged in the upper area of the stable flame 2, so far away from it, that its convection heat can no longer have any or no significant influence on the hot soldering point of the counter thermocouple 6, if only the guarantee is given that the hot solder joint will be covered with certainty by the flame when it has become unstable (curved). The thermocouple 3 is, however, advantageously with its hot solder joint in the lower part of the flame 2 or arrange their infrared radiation jacket.
A line (busbar 8 and cable 8 '), the busbar is led outside, leaving a gap along the inner electrode 6', connects the outer electrode 6 "of the counter thermocouple 6 with the coil of an electromagnet 20 (Fig. 2) here designed as a switching valve 25 for the ignition head and for a main burner, not shown. The gas line (not shown) leading from the outlet of the switching valve 25 and leading to the ignition head would have to be branched off from a gas line leading to one or more main burners.
The switching valve 25 would therefore have the function of an ignition and main gas valve. In many cases, however, a switching valve with a double seat is used for this purpose, in which the gas line leading to the ignition head is branched off between the double seats.
With 9 is shown in Fig. 1, the cold soldering point 7 of the counter thermocouple 6 against the radiant heat of the flame 2, 2 'protecting screen. Since the screen 9 is attached to the holder 4 and the intermediate piece 10 is attached to the screen 9, the screen 9 must also consist of an electrically conductive material. The screen 9 could, for. B. also sit on the burner tube; it could then be made of non-conductive material.
As can be seen from FIG. 2, the two thermocouples 3, 6 have opposite polarity. As long as the pilot flame 2 is elongated (stable), only the thermocouple 3 is heated and its thermal current runs through the unexcited thermocouple 6 connected in series with it to the coil of the magnet 20 and back to the thermocouple 3. If the flame 2 loses its stability for any reason If it becomes weak, then it changes into the position shown in dashed lines in FIG. 1 and denoted by 2 '. In this position, the flame 2 ', provided it is the ignition flame of a main burner (not shown), can just about ignite the gas emerging from the main burner.
The counter-thermocouple 6 is, however, already detected by the upwardly curved flame 2 ′ in such a way that a countercurrent is generated by the counter-thermocouple 6 that cancels the thermal current of the thermocouple 3. The prerequisite for the thermal currents canceling each other out is that the thermocouples 3, 6 have or reach the same or almost the same voltage potential. At the moment when the thermal currents cancel or almost cancel each other out, the magnet coil is no longer or only insufficiently excited. The control device 25 controlled by the electromagnet 20 then goes into the rest position, whereby the gas supply to the pilot burner and / or to the main burner is blocked.

Gas components are generally susceptible.
If several thermocouples and several counter-thermocouples are combined into one battery, each battery is in the same direction, but the batteries must be connected with opposite polarity.
