The invention relates to a device for rolling up and down an awning with a fabric winding shaft that is rotatably mounted on a wall and can be rotated by hand or motor for winding up and unwinding the awning fabric, which is attached at one end to the fabric winding shaft and can be wound up on it, with a rod attached to the free end of the awning fabric and running parallel to the fabric winding shaft, with two pivot bearings attached to the wall and with joints mounted on these and running to the rod, each consisting of at least two arms that are under spring pressure in such a way that they are spread apart and the awning fabric is pulled off the fabric winding shaft.
Awnings are attached to walls, such as house walls, over balconies, terraces and other open spaces. Depending on the weather, they are rolled up or rolled out. When rolled out, the awning fabric covers the open space underneath and protects people there from the sun and/or rain.
The known devices for rolling up and unrolling an awning are suitable for a horizontal position of the fabric winding shaft. When the fabric winding shaft is rotated in the unwinding direction, the springs acting on the joints come into play and spread the arms forming the joints. This means that the awning fabric is pulled away from the fabric winding shaft as it is unrolled.
The pivot bearings holding the joints are inclined at an acute angle to the vertical. This means that the articulated arms and thus the awning fabric run slightly diagonally from top to bottom. This is desirable. A slightly diagonal awning fabric protects people sitting or standing under it better from the weather, sun or rain. However, the diagonal position also means that the awning fabric and the rod attached to its free end pull on the fabric winding shaft with their own weight. If the fabric winding shaft runs horizontally, this pulling force has no effect. Forces acting axially on the fabric winding shaft generally do not occur. Only in the case of lateral wind pressure do small forces develop that act axially on the fabric winding shaft. If the fabric winding shaft runs diagonally, the pulling force mentioned above acts asymmetrically with respect to a longitudinal center line running through the awning fabric. The non-rigid awning fabric and the articulated arms cannot withstand this asymmetrical load. The weight of the awning fabric, the rod and the articulated arms pulls the awning fabric downwards to the side, following the slope. This also causes the two joints to be moved out of their symmetrical position with respect to the longitudinal center line. This means that the articulated arms cannot follow the intended kinetic movement, but instead warp diagonally with the fabric. The movement gets lost and the entire awning is then unusable. It follows that the known devices for rolling up and down an awning are only suitable for a horizontal position of the fabric winding shaft.
However, there are balconies and so-called studio windows arranged on a gable wall under a roof, where you want to attach the awning or the fabric winding shaft to the edge of the roof, and thus at an angle. Other positions of balconies and terraces are also conceivable, where an awning should be arranged at an angle. This is not possible with the known devices for rolling up and down an awning described at the beginning.
Based on this state of the art, the invention is based on the object of designing a device for rolling up and down an awning in such a way that the awning fabric is guided perfectly even when the fabric winding shaft is arranged at an angle.
To solve this problem, the invention provides an embodiment of the device mentioned at the outset, which is characterized by gears or segments thereof mounted on the pivot bearings, meshing with one another and connected to the arms of the joints held on the pivot bearings.
The two joints are positively connected to one another at one end by the two gears or segments. At the other end, the free end of the awning fabric, they are positively connected to one another by the rod located there. This means that they maintain their symmetrical position in relation to the longitudinal center line of the awning fabric even when asymmetrical forces are applied. This means that the awning fabric is always kept symmetrical even when the fabric winding shaft is at an angle.
In der Zeichnung ist:The invention is further described using the example of the embodiment shown in the drawing. In the drawing:

According to the illustration in Fig. 1, an awning fabric 16 is stretched over the balcony. The awning fabric 16 has a fixed end 18 and a free end 20. The fabric winding shaft 22 is attached at an angle to the gable wall 12 under the roof edge. Fig. 1 also shows the hand crank 24 for turning the fabric winding shaft 22 in the winding or unwinding direction.
Fig. 2 shows the wall brackets 14 attached to the gable wall. They hold the entire device. The fabric winding shaft 22 is mounted in bearing holders 26. A support profile 28, which is attached to the wall brackets 14, supports the bearing holders 26 and thus the fabric winding shaft 22 with the awning fabric 16. The two pivot bearings 30 are also attached to the support profile 28. The two gears 32 and the two joints 34 are mounted on the pivot bearings 30. Each joint 34 has an inner arm 36 and an outer arm 38. The gears 32 are firmly connected to the inner arms 36. A rod 40 connects the free ends of the outer arms 38. The free end of the awning fabric 16 is also attached to the rod 40.
The joints 34 are under the pressure of springs (not shown). These are arranged in such a way that they spread the arms 36 and 38 and thus pull and tension the awning fabric 16 in the unwinding direction.
When turning in the unwinding direction, the above-mentioned springs come into play and pull the awning fabric 16 off the fabric winding shaft 22. At the start of this movement, the arms 36 and 38 assume the position shown in dash-dot lines for the arms on the left in Fig. 2. In the fully unwound position, the awning fabric 16 and the arms 36 and 38 assume the position shown in Fig. 2. A simultaneous look at Figures 1 and 2 now shows that the dead weight of the awning fabric 16, the two joints 34 and the

Rod 40 - when looking at Fig. 2 - pulls towards the left on the awning fabric 16. However, the awning fabric 16 does not follow this force. The rectangle formed by the two gears 32, the two joints 34 and the rod 40 forms a rigid parallelogram that resists this force. The awning fabric 16 thus maintains its symmetrical position with respect to a longitudinal center line even when the fabric winding shaft 22 runs at an angle.
