Item of clothing, especially a shirt with at least one outside pocket

The invention relates to an item of clothing, in particular a shirt, with at least one outside pocket according to the preamble of claim 1. The purpose of the inside pocket, which is not accessible from the outside, is generally to create a theft-proof storage place for money, documents, etc.

The arrangement of an additional inner pocket is not a problem for items of clothing that already have an inner lining, such as a jacket or a coat. For items of clothing consisting of only one textile layer, such as a shirt, the attachment of the inner pocket is associated with certain problems, since the attachment should not be visible from the outside. DE-A-43 03 602 has made known a generic shirt in which inner pockets are arranged on a separate material section that coincides with the button strip on one side and with a transverse chest seam on one side. The production of a separate section is complex and its attachment is not possible in all cases for aesthetic reasons.

It is therefore an object of the invention to create an item of clothing of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the inner pocket can be manufactured in a simple manner and fastened in such a way that it is not visible from the outside. This object is achieved according to the invention with an item of clothing that has the features in claim 1.

The arrangement of the inner pocket within the area delimited by the seam of the outer pocket allows

to form the inner pocket with a simple and relatively small section of material. The seam of the inner pocket, which is placed on the section inside the seam of the outer pocket in relation to the stressed area, is not visible from the outside, as it is covered by the outer pocket.

The opening of the inner pocket can be roughly parallel and at about the same height as the opening of the outer pocket. The opening of the inner pocket could also be placed at a slight angle, for example, to make access easier.

Within the area of the outer pocket, a closure element for closing the inner pocket is preferably sewn onto the section from the inside. This could be a Velcro fastener, for example. Buttons or a zipper would also be conceivable. The fastening of the closure device is also not visible from the outside, as any seam is covered by the outer pocket.

Instead of the closure element, it is also conceivable that the inner pocket has an envelope on the side of the opening facing the section, the free end of which is not connected to the inner pocket. In this way, the envelope forms a type of pocket with a downward-facing opening, which catches an object lying in the inner pocket when the pocket is tilted downwards beyond the horizontal.

A particularly advantageous method for producing the garment consists in first sewing the inner pocket onto the section from the inside and then sewing the outer pocket onto the same section from the outside, with the seam of the outer pocket being placed outside the seam of the inner pocket in relation to the area under stress on the section.

Sewing the inner pocket in the first step makes it possible to then attach the outer pocket without the seams interfering with each other. Only a relatively small distance between the inner seam and the outer seam needs to be maintained. Otherwise, the shape of the outer seam is not subject to any restrictions. Sewing on a fastener to close the inner pocket is also preferably done before sewing on the outer pocket, in such a way that the outer pocket covers the seam of the fastener on the section. This means that the fastener can also be sewn on by machine.

Figure 1 shows a detail of a shirt 1, which is composed of several sections in a known manner. The chest section is formed by a section 6, which is arranged between the collar 11, the sleeve 12 and the button strip 13. An outside pocket 2 is attached by means of a seam 3.

Within the area delimited by the seam 3 on the section 6, an inner pocket 4 is attached to the section 6 from the inside, as can be seen in particular from Figure 2. The shape of the inner pocket can be chosen as desired within this area. However, the seam 5 of the inner pocket preferably runs parallel to the seam 3 of the outer pocket in certain areas.

Figure 3 shows the pockets attached to section 6 in cross-section. The opening 7 of the outer pocket 2 runs approximately parallel and at approximately the same height as the opening 8 of the inner pocket 4. On the inside of section 6, one part 9 of a Velcro strip is sewn in such a way that its seam 14 is covered by the outer pocket 2. The other part 10 of the Velcro strip is sewn on the inside of the inner pocket 4.

In the embodiment shown, section 6 of the chest area of the shirt forms a common wall section of the outer pocket and the inner pocket. The pockets can be manufactured particularly easily and inexpensively in this way. However, it would of course also be conceivable for the pockets to each have their own inner walls, which border on section 6.

Figures 4 and 5 show an alternative embodiment in which the inner pocket is not provided with a closure means. In order to prevent objects from slipping out of the inner pocket when its position changes, the pocket is provided with a flap 15 on the side of the opening 8. The flap faces the section 6 and has a width of, for example, 2 to 3 cm. The free end 16 of the flap is not connected to the inner pocket 4. The flap is thus only connected to the sides of the pocket.
