Folding container with two chambers

The invention relates to a foldable container made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, carton or plastic, which has two chambers when in the erected state.

In the packaging and transport industry, packages or containers that have several chambers are known. These packages or containers are typically constructed as follows.

Two-part packaging consisting of an outer packaging and an insert that forms the corresponding chambers. The outer packaging and the insert are foldable.

Foldable packaging in which the compartments are permanently installed.

Packaging with bottom flaps and cord bottom. The cord bottom supports the bottom flaps.

In the solution mentioned under 1, the packaging consists of several parts, which requires complex handling when setting up or folding the packaging, which leads to increased personnel deployment when handling such packaging. In addition, two parts, the outer packaging and the inner packaging, have to be managed, which in turn means increased effort.

The packaging mentioned under 2. is a one-piece packaging, but the base must be folded outwards and, when in an upright position, must be connected to the packaging using additional applications such as rivets, Velcro fasteners or similar in order to prevent the packaged goods from falling out. This also has the further disadvantage that, in the event of even minor handling errors, the goods to be packaged cannot be prevented from falling through and greater damage can therefore occur.

The disadvantage of the packaging mentioned under 3 is that it has to be manufactured using a very complex process and is also usually made of several types of material, e.g. cardboard, metal and plastic, which leads to problems when recycling.

The present invention is based on the object of avoiding the disadvantages inherent in the above-mentioned systems and of creating a folding container that is easy to manufacture, consists of only one material, ensures easy handling and is versatile in its application.

The solution to the problem is achieved by a folding container according to the characterizing part of claim 1. Further preferred embodiments of the invention are described in claims 2-5.

The container according to the invention has the significant advantage that it can be easily set up and, when folded, can be transported in a space-saving manner.

The subject matter of the invention will be explained in more detail using the drawings as examples of preferred embodiments.

The foldable container according to the invention consists, as can be seen from Fig. 1, of a blank 1 made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, paperboard or plastic. This blank has a rectangular central area consisting of two parts 2 and 3, which can be folded flat on top of one another via two grooves 4, 5 and, when assembled, form the double central wall of the container.

Four rectangular parts 6, 7 and 8, 9 are arranged foldably on both sides of the two parts 2 and 3 of the middle area to form the outer walls of the container. The parts 6, 8 are connected to the middle area via two grooves 10, 11 and the parts 7, 9 via a groove 12. Two further rectangular parts 15, 16 are arranged on the rectangular parts 7, 9 via two grooves 13, 14, which correspond to the wide outer walls.

Connecting tabs 17, 18 are arranged on the outer edges of the rectangular parts 6, 8 and 15, 16, which enable any connection, for example by gluing, welding, pressing or the like.

The blank shown in Fig. 1 can be used to produce a foldable container with an automatic or folding base. For this purpose, further rectangular parts 19, 20 are arranged in a foldable manner on the two parts 2, 3. The parts 6, 7, 8, 9 are connected to beveled tabs 21, 22, 23, 24, each of which is provided with a diagonal groove 25.

Narrower rectangular parts 26 and 27 are arranged foldably on the wider rectangular parts 15, 16.

The foldable container in the assembled state can be seen in Fig. 4, whereby it corresponds approximately to the size ratios of the individual parts of the blank according to Fig. 1. When the two tabs 17, 18 are connected to one another, the folded container can be transported flat. To open the container, it is unfolded according to Fig. 6 by pulling on the outer, rectangular parts 16 and 17 in the direction of arrow 29. Since the front tips of the bevelled tabs 21, 22, 23 and 24 are connected to the base parts 19, 20 and the narrow side parts 26, 27 via the grooves 25, the parts 19, 20 are pulled into the corresponding chambers when the container is set up and form the bases of the two chambers.

In the container shown in Fig. 5, in which the central wall runs transversely, the proportions of the rectangular parts 6 to 9 and 15, 16 are changed accordingly.

The proportions of the parts mentioned are shown in Fig. 2, which shows a modified blank for the folding container according to the invention. This embodiment shows a container with a hand-inserted base. For this purpose, tabs 31, 32, 33, 34 with a bevel 30 are arranged on the rectangular parts 6, 7, 8 and 9. Further, protruding parts 35, 36 with bevels 37 are arranged on the parts 15, 16. Parts 37' and 38' with a recess are arranged in a foldable manner on the parts 2, 3. This allows a hand-inserted base to be formed when the blank connected to the connecting tabs 17, 18 is assembled or unfolded.

In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3, simple flaps 38, 39, 40 and 41 are arranged foldably on the rectangular parts 6, 7, 8, 9, which

with the flaps 42, 43 on the parts 2, 3 of the middle area and the flaps 44, 45 on the rectangular parts 15, 16 form a floor construction with simple closing flaps on the floor.

The folding container according to the invention also has the significant advantage that it becomes very flat when the blank is assembled by folding the blank and can be transported in this state, taking up little space.
