Pepper mill with movable dirt floor

The invention relates to a device for collecting the residual pepper which comes loose from the grinder after the grinding process has ended, when the pepper mill is put down and/or transported.

Collecting leftover pepper from the pepper mills is always desirable when the pepper mill is put down after use and/or transported to another location. The grinder in the pepper mills already known is completely open at the bottom, which means that a separate collecting container always has to be used to prevent contamination. Pepper mills are also known that are completely closed using a snap-on dirt base. This snap-on dirt base solves the problem of contamination when put down and/or transported, but means that it has to be removed separately before each use and then snapped back on again. There is also a risk that it can easily get lost because it is not firmly attached to the pepper mill.

The task is therefore to create a user-friendly pepper mill that allows for quick, uncomplicated and clean use.

This problem is solved with the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments can be found in the subclaims.

The remaining pepper that is still in the grinder 4 is collected by a dirt base 2 integrated into the pepper mill 1, which can be opened or closed using a continuous rod 3. This locking technology enables clean storage and/or transport. It also ensures that the dirt

base 2 cannot be lost, as it is firmly connected to the pepper mill 1 by means of the continuous rod 3, on the top of which there is a screwed-on oval (9).

A further advantage of this invention is that the handling is in no way restricted compared to conventional pepper mills without a dirt base due to the uncomplicated opening and closing of the dirt base 2 using the continuous rod 3. A restriction on handling using a dirt base is most obvious in pepper mills that are equipped with a loose dirt base.

Figure I shows the pepper mill 1 in cross section with a movable, but closed dirt base 2 and the continuous operating rod 3, which is guided through a cavity provided for this purpose, in the center, through the entire pepper mill 1. In order to ensure an optimal closure, the lower edge 5 of the pepper mill 1 was stepped. At the same time, the dirt base 2 was provided with a recess 6 so that it can engage perfectly in the stepped shoulder of the pepper mill 1.

Figure 1 shows the pepper mill 1 as in Figure I, but with the difference that here the movable dirt base 2 is open.

Figure III shows the pepper mill 1 as in Figure I and &Pgr;, but with the difference that here

the movable dirt floor 2 with the operating rod 3 is shown separately.

When using the pepper mill 1 with movable dirt base 2, proceed as follows;

Grasp the pepper mill 1 at the top of the rotary knob 7 with your whole hand and press the operating rod 3 downwards. This opens the dirt tray 2. Hold the pepper mill 1 at a slight angle and turn the rotary knob 7. Pepper comes out. After the grinding process has finished, pull the operating rod 3 upwards. This closes the dirt tray 2 again.

Claims (3)

Protection claims 1. Pepper mill (1) with a separate but firmly attached dirt base (2) which serves to collect the remaining pepper from the pepper mill (1), characterized in that the spacer pins (3) ensure the connection and the desired distance (4) between the pepper mill (1) and the dirt base (2). 2. Pepper mill (1) with offset, each-length usable floor (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the dirt floor (2) is provided with a recess (5). 3. Pepper mill (1) with offset but firmly attached dirt base (2) according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the dirt base (2) can be either smaller, larger or the same size as the lower diameter (7) of the pepper mill (1).
