Die Waschtrommel 1, die im Laugenbehälter einer Waschmaschine drehbar gelagert ist, hat. einen zylindrischen Mantel 2, der in üblicher Weise mit einer Vielzahl von Durchflutungslöchern 3 (Perforationen) versehen ist. Durch diese Durchflutungslöcher hindurch dringt beim Waschvorgang die Arbeitsflüssigkeit (Wasch- oder Spüllauge) aus dem Laugenbehälter in den Waschtrommel-Innenraum und benetzt das dort befindliche Waschgut. Die Sechskantform der Waben 4 mit den Durchflutungslöchern 3 erlaubt eine enge Aneinanderreihung der einzelnen Prägungen im Mantel 2 der Waschtrommel 1. Dadurch verbleiben keine Mantelflächen, die waagrecht zu der Fliehkraft des auszuschleudernden Wassers (Lauge) stehen. Die Arbeitsflüssigkeit trifft immer auf die schrägen, nach außen führenden Flächen 6 der Waben 4. Der Flüssigkeitsaustritt wird dadurch praktisch nicht mehr behindert. Die Festigkeit bzw. Stabilität der Waschtrommel wird aber wesentlich erhöht, so daß die Blechdicke des Waschtrommel-Mantels 2 reduziert und damit das Waschtrommel-Gewicht gesenkt werden kann.The hexagonal shape of the honeycombs 4 with the flow holes 3 allows the individual embossings in the casing 2 of the washing drum 1 to be arranged closely together.
