Rope loop fastener

I. Area of application

The invention relates to a rope loop closure for connecting the two ends of a finite piece of rope together in such a way that objects fastened in the rope loop cannot get lost.

II. Technical background

Such rope loop fasteners are used as key holders as well as as fastening devices on product presentation systems, in that the product to be presented, for example a ring, is fastened in the rope loop and the rope loop extends through the opening of a plate in the presentation table. The fastener of the rope loop is so large that it does not fit through the opening in the presentation table. Because the product fastened in the rope loop, for example the ring, is above the table top of the presentation table, but the fastener is below it, the product fastened in the rope loop can only be removed from the presentation table by opening the fastener or by cutting the rope. By using a steel rope and designing the fastener in a form that requires a tool to open and/or the area is not accessible

, below the table top of the presentation table for the customer, this is largely prevented, so that with such presentation systems a personal offering of goods is possible.

Such rope loop fasteners are known in many different forms.

A simple way is to insert the two ends of the cable into a clamping sleeve and clamp them there - similar to the well-known lamp terminal used in electrical installations - using a clamping screw that runs across the insertion opening in a thread.

However, this causes the rope, especially a braided rope, to be crushed flat and is usually no longer usable once this connection is loosened.

Another possibility is to lead the rope ends through only slightly larger openings in the closure part, and then thicken the rope ends by applying a crimping part, a lump of solder or something similar, in order to prevent the rope from being pulled back through the small insertion opening. However, such rope loop closures cannot be dismantled and are therefore reusable.

Another problem is that with the wire ropes that are often used for safety reasons, jewelry attached to the wire rope, especially jewelry made of precious metals, can be scratched or damaged by the wire rope, and in the worst case, the gemstones contained therein can even be dislodged.

Hi. Description of the invention

a) Technical task

It is therefore the object of the invention to provide a rope loop closure, and in particular a product presentation system using such rope loop closures, which can be manufactured simply and inexpensively.

and yet can be easily dismantled, and damage to the objects held by the rope loop closure is avoided.

b) Solution to the task

This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments emerge from the subclaims.

Because the closure consists of two parts that can be connected to one another, for example, screwed together or locked together using a bayonet lock, the receiving part and the counterholder, at least one thickening arranged on one end of the rope can be held between these two parts in a form-fitting and/or force-fitting manner when assembled. The other end of the rope is connected to the receiving part or the counterholder of the closure in a non-removable manner, for example soldered, or is also loose and equipped with a thickening, whereby both thickenings and thus both ends of the rope must then be fixable between the receiving part and the counterholder. To release the objects held in the rope loop, the at least one detachable end of the rope is pulled out of the object to be held, for example the ring to be presented, when disassembled, whereby the opening in the goods to be presented must of course be larger than the thickening at the end of the rope!

By coating the steel cable, for example, with a soft material, such as plastic, scratches on a gold ring, for example, held in the cable loop closure, by the fibers of the steel cable are avoided.

If objects made of soft materials such as tortoise shell, horn or similar are to be held by the rope loop closure, the coating of the rope must be even softer, for example made of a very flexible, e.g. porous, foam-like, plastic.

Such a coating of a steel cable can be done very easily by immersing it in a liquid plastic, which is then left to dry on the cable in the air. The entire cable or just a certain length of the cable can be coated, i.e. the length of the cable that is in contact with the object to be picked up, such as the piece of jewelry.

However, the coating can also be applied by sliding on a so-called shrink tube, which contracts when exposed to heat and then also fits tightly to the steel cable as a coating.

It is also not important whether the coating fits perfectly and without gaps around the outer circumference of the steel cable. A plastic tube loosely pushed over the steel cable also serves more or less the same purpose.

c) Advantages

The advantage of this solution is that when assembled, the fixation is arranged inside the closure, i.e. not visible between the receiving part and the counterholder, so that the observer cannot see how the fixation is effected and thus disassembly, which is possible in principle, is not possible for the uninformed observer in a short time, especially since the connection between the receiving part and the counterholder is designed in such a way that

The reusability of the rope loop greatly reduces the operating costs of a product display system equipped with it and, in particular, high-quality, highly theft-proof ropes and fasteners can be used.

Basically, between the receiving part and the counterholder of the lock, at least the detachable rope end with its thickening, or both thickenings in the case of two loose rope ends, is inserted into the receiving part and the counterholder is then attached to the receiving part. In the assembled state, it is then prevented either by positive locking or force locking or by both that even one of the rope ends or even one of the thickenings is removed from the lock without first separating the receiving part and the counterholder from each other. For example, the receiving part can be designed in the shape of a sleeve, with a relatively small insertion opening on one end, while the counterholder can be screwed into the larger other end, which is equipped with an internal thread. In the connected state, there is then a free space in the receiving part that is large enough to accommodate one or both of the necessary thickenings. The insertion opening is large enough to allow one thickening to pass through alone - next to the rope cross-section that also runs through the insertion opening - but not two thickenings in parallel. However, because both thickenings are tightly enclosed in the remaining free space of the receiving part, they can no longer be moved axially one after the other through the insertion opening and are thus secured in the lock. When one thickening is inserted, either the insertion opening is so small that it only allows the rope cross-section to pass through and the thickening is detachably attached to the loose rope end, or this one thickening can in principle pass through the insertion opening, but is positioned in the connected state between the receiving part and the counterholder in such a way that it is no longer possible to pass through the insertion opening.

d) Further details

It is also possible to accommodate one or both thickenings in the receiving part in non-centric, e.g. radial slots or receiving recesses, from which it is usually no longer possible to emerge laterally after insertion if the counterholder is connected to the receiving part due to a corresponding shape of the counterholder.

In Figures 1-5, Figures a show the closure 10 in the open state and Figures b show it in the closed, assembled state.

In Fig. 1, only the two rope ends 2 and 3 of the rope 1 are visible, whereby each of the rope ends 2 and 3 is connected to a thickening part 4 and 5, respectively.

As can be seen in the enlarged detail view of Fig. 1a, the thickening part 4 is screwed, for example, onto an external thread of the rope end 2, but it is also possible to clamp or solder it.

The closure 10 consists of the receiving part 6, which is designed in the shape of a sleeve and has an internal thread 11 incorporated into its lower opening in the inner circumference. A counterholder 7 can be screwed to the receiving part 6, which has an extension with a reduced cross-section and an external thread 12 on one of its front sides, which fits into the internal thread 11. The external contours of the receiving part 6 and counterholder 7 are preferably the same and aligned in the assembled state, as shown in Fig. 1 b, in particular each designed as an external hexagon, in order to be able to firmly clamp the two parts against each other using a conventional wrench.

As can be seen better in Fig. 1α, the receiving part 6 has a free space 14 in its interior, which is open downwards without a narrowing of the cross-section, and with a narrowed cross-section is open upwards via an insertion hole 8 in the upper end face of the receiving part 6.

The insertion hole 8 is dimensioned such that only one of the cover parts A ₁ 5 together with a cross-section of the rope 1, i.e. e.g. the other rope end 3, 2, fits through at the same time, but not both thickening parts 4, 5 at the same time. This makes it possible to thread an object to be fastened onto the rope 1, for example a key or a ring to be presented, and then to push first one thickening part 4 and then the other thickening part 5 through the receiving part 6 from above, while the rest of the rope 1 with the object - not shown in the figures - threaded onto it remains above and thus outside the receiving part 6 and also above the perforated plate of the presentation table 18, as shown in Fig. 1b.

In order to prevent the rope ends 2, 3 from leaving the receiving part 6 via the insertion opening 8 in the same way as they entered, the counterholder 7 is now screwed into the receiving part 6 from below until the firmly screwed state, as shown in Fig. 1 b, is achieved. By screwing the threaded part of the counterholder 7 into the free space 14 of the receiving part 6, this free space 14 is reduced so much that the two thickening parts 4, 5 can just fit in it, lying parallel to one another. However, this prevents them from being pulled out of the insertion hole 8 one after the other and in alignment with the same, since a corresponding aligned position is prevented by the other receiving part 5 or 4 located to the side in the remaining free space 14, which cannot move far enough to the side due to the dimensions of the free space 14 compared to the thickening parts 4, 5.

Fig. 2, on the other hand, shows a different solution in that here one end of the cable 3 is firmly connected to the front side of the counterholder 7 facing the receiving part 6, for example it is soldered to it.

The thickening part 4 is detachably attached to the other end of the rope 2, as shown in the detailed enlargement, and the insertion hole 8 is now so small that even a thickening part 4 no longer fits through, but only two adjacent cross-sections of the rope 1.

For assembly, the rope end 2 is first threaded through the goods to be presented without the thickening part 4 and then inserted from above into the insertion hole 8 of the receiving part 6. Only then is the thickening part 4 screwed onto the rope end 2, the thickening part 4 is pulled back into the free space 14 and the counterholder 7 is screwed into the receiving part 6.

The solution according to Fig. 3 differs from this in that in Fig. 3 the insertion hole 8 in the top of the receiving part 6 has a cross section which

is large enough to allow the thickening part 4 to be pushed through. This makes it possible to fasten the thickening part 4 firmly, non-detachably, to the rope end 2, which enables a more cost-effective method of fastening.

The thickening part 4, once pushed through from above, slips out of the insertion hole 8 in that, when the receiving part 6 and the counterholder 7 are screwed together, the counterholder 7 with an extension 15 reaches so close to the insertion hole 8 that the remaining free space between the extension 15 and the outer circumference of the insertion hole 8 is no longer sufficient to guide the thickening part 4 through, which for this purpose finds space laterally offset from the middle next to the extension 15 in the free space 14 of the receiving part 6.

An analogous solution with two free rope ends 2, 3 and attached thickening parts 4, 5 is shown in Fig. 4. Here too, the insertion hole 8 can be so large that a thickening part 4 fits through together with a rope cross-section, and even so large that two thickening parts 4 located next to each other would fit through the insertion hole 8 at the same time. Pulling out in the assembled state of the closure 10 is prevented by the fact that the counterholder 7 with its extension 15 protrudes so far against the insertion hole 8 that the remaining free space between them is no longer sufficient to guide even one of the thickening parts 4, 5 through. In particular, the extension 15 could protrude into the insertion hole 8 and extend to its upper, outer end.

Fig. 5 shows a solution in which the counterholder 7 - at least in its one front end area - is equipped with a sleeve-shaped internal thread 11, and the receiving part 6 has an external thread 12 which can be screwed into the internal thread 11 of the counterholder 7.

The thickening parts 4, 5 are fastened in slots made radially in the outer circumference of the receiving part α. This insertion slot 9 has a cross-section that allows the rope cross-section of the rope ends 2, 3 to be inserted.

In its lower part, the insertion slot 9 is widened to form a widening 16, which is large enough to also accommodate a thickening part 4, 5, which, however, cannot be pulled out axially in the longitudinal direction of the rope 2, 3 through the narrower insertion slot 9.

Lateral removal against the direction of insertion of the thickening parts 4, 5 is prevented by the fact that after inserting these thickening parts A ₁ 5 into the widenings 1 θ, which are preferably arranged on opposite sides of the circumference, the sleeve-shaped counterholder 7 is screwed over them, as shown in Fig. 5b in the assembled state.

In contrast, Fig. 5a shows a sectional view along the line A-A of Fig. 5c.

In order to screw the receiving part 6 and the counterholder 7 together, the counterholder 7 is preferably equipped with an external hexagon for attaching a wrench, while the receiving part 6 has an internal hexagon 17 in the front side facing away from the counterholder 7 for attaching an Allen key.
