Description

The invention relates to a presentation system, as is preferably used for presenting not too large goods that require trying on, which for this purpose should consist at least partially of hard material and are subject to an increased temptation to theft.

This includes basically all pieces of jewelry, but also increasingly fashion accessories such as glasses, brooches, wristwatches, belts, etc.

The customer would like to try on all of these goods first in order to judge the visual effect directly on himself. However, there is a risk for the merchant that, on the one hand, with conventional presentation methods, especially with

The risk of loss due to theft of jewelry is very high when the fitting is carried out in a self-service process without staff supervision, and on the other hand when the staff issue items individually for fitting, the personnel costs are very high. For example, it is unacceptable for a salesperson to spend up to a quarter of an hour with a customer in order to ultimately sell a silver ring with a retail value of around DM 50, since the gross profit achieved then already reaches the level of the personnel costs incurred.

Theft prevention can therefore only be reduced profitably by such personnel expenditure in the case of high-value goods, and in the case of very high-value goods such as gold or diamond jewelry or high-value clothing such as furs and leather, individual security using electronic transmitters etc. is also worthwhile.

Furthermore, theft protection by avoiding self-service and issuing by staff, apart from the costs, basically fails if the presentation of these goods outside the reach of the staff is

The aim is to overcome customers' inhibitions, for example in open spaces in front of the shop.

It is therefore the object of the invention to create a presentation system in which the goods can be tried on without the sales staff being tied up, without there being any significant risk of theft, and after the customer has made a purchase decision, the staff only has to hand over the desired item from the stock to the customer. This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments emerge from the subclaims.

For the presentation of finger rings, it is already known from the German utility model G 9304608.4 to use the top of an essentially box-shaped housing as a presentation plate for the rings, and to arrange openings in this upper plate. The rings are arranged on the openings, which have a smaller diameter than the ring, and are secured by means of a cord that extends through the opening into the interior of the box and is weighted at the end, whereby the ring is pulled into contact with the opening in the presentation plate.

On the other hand, the customer can pull the ring far enough away from this presentation plate to be able to put it on the finger, since the cord used is sufficiently thin for this purpose and extends through the inside of the ring (which ideally has a closed contour).

According to the description, the anti-theft protection consists in the fact that a customer can of course cut the cord, but then the weight makes a loud noise when it hits the bottom of the box, which serves as a warning signal for the sales staff. The stealing customer cannot prevent the box from falling because of the outer walls of the box, which serve as a covering, and which

access and thus the catching of the falling weight is prevented.

However, this safety feature is disadvantageous in several respects: Since the same extension length is required for all rings, this means that the side walls of the panel must be vertical and must not extend below the presentation area. However, this results in a blocky and bulky appearance of the presentation area, while

This also increases the space requirement if there is not at least some free space underneath the sales area, which can be used for the knees of seated customers, etc.

A further disadvantage is that although the theft is reported by the acoustic display, it cannot be reversed, especially if there are a large number of customers, let alone prevented from happening in the future.

Further disadvantages are that the presentation plate described there does not contain any information about the choice of material for the presentation surface, i.e. the top plate of the box. In practice, however, only materials that are significantly softer than the material of the rings sold at 0, such as wood, plastic or similar, come into consideration. On the other hand, this presentation furniture must be sufficiently stable.

When manufacturing from wood, no purchased parts can be used, but rather an individual and therefore very expensive production process must be used.

The third disadvantage is that the extension length for the rings is only the maximum vertical distance between the upper

and lower plate of the preservation furniture**, and therefore automatically limits the extension length, which automatically prohibits the implementation of this presentation method on goods other than jewelry rings.

In particular, the inclined position of the presentation surface described as advantageous in this utility model has the additional disadvantage that this inclined position causes the cords hanging down inside to move strongly when the ring is quickly pulled out or released and, due to the small distance when inclined, can easily become tangled with one another, which calls into question the function of the entire unit.

The latter problem can be avoided in principle if spring elements are used as a retraction aid instead of using weights, for example spring-operated, automatically rewinding rollers on which the cord is attached, or upward-directed, linear tension springs.

Even when using weights, the risk of entanglement can be minimized if the weights or cords are completely or partially separated from each other by guides.

The theft notification using an acoustic alarm can be improved to provide anti-theft protection if a material that is difficult or impossible for the customer to cut through, such as a thin steel cable, is used instead of an easily cuttable cord. Even a steel cable or steel wire less than 1 mm thick is sufficiently tear-resistant to neither be torn off by the customer nor cut through with a simple tool such as nail scissors, etc. At the same time, a steel cable of this thickness is sufficiently flexible not to hinder fitting.

By using cut-resistant and tear-resistant connecting elements such as steel cables etc. instead of a simple cord, the all-round paneling, i.e. the side surfaces of the presentation furniture, can be dispensed with, which allows for much more freedom in the design of the presentation furniture, and even when using weights, these

A particularly inexpensive and generally applicable design of the presentation furniture is achieved if a sufficiently strong perforated sheet of about 2 mm thickness is used as the presentation plate. The holes can be more frequent and closer together than the presentation of the rings or other goods is intended.

On the one hand, this allows the density of the goods presented to be determined as desired, and on the other hand, the weight of the presentation plate is reduced by the additional holes.

Such a presentation panel made of perforated sheet metal can be set in a demountable manner with a double-conical base consisting of three or more struts, e.g. with the tips pointing towards each other, and can be secured using a screw connection etc., so that the presentation furniture only takes up very little storage space when dismantled.

The use of a perforated metal sheet, especially steel, entails the possibility, which at first glance appears disadvantageous, that pieces of jewellery could be scratched on the edges of the holes in which the jewellery is held, thus making them unusable for sale.

A soft material to prevent damage should be provided between the piece of jewellery and the metal surface.

This can be done by coating the entire surface or by making a special recess in the area surrounding the holes, but this is very labor-intensive and therefore costly. A very simple and inexpensive solution is to insert simple O-rings, such as those used in a variety of sizes for compaction purposes, made of rubber or plastic between the ring and the surface of the presentation area. The only thing that needs to be done is to choose the inner diameter of the O-ring so that the finger ring always rests on the soft O-ring and never on a metal edge.

The presentation method described so far using the example of finger rings can be transferred to other products with modifications.

However, if other goods are presented in this way instead of rings, their special features must be taken into account when presenting them:

First of all, in order to shorten the necessary extension length, it is generally sensible to present the goods at the height at which the product is to be tried on the body. For glasses, earrings, studs and necklaces, this means that the presentation takes place at about head height, while for bracelets, belts and wristwatches, a presentation at stomach or chest height 0 makes sense.

Especially with glasses, it is sensible not to attach the steel cable to the front of the glasses, for example to the connecting bridge between the two lenses, but to the temples, and especially to their rear ends. This means that the fastening element is practically invisible when putting on the glasses and looking at the surface of your face.

For this purpose, the presentation surface should be placed at an incline or even vertically either next to or opposite the mirror that the customer uses for viewing. Preferably, a mirror element can also be arranged on the side of a vertical presentation surface and can be swiveled, so that two customers can try on clothes on each side of the presentation surface at the same time.

To maintain order, a steel cable or fastening element is preferably attached to each of the temples of the glasses, whereby these can each have a single or a common weight on the back of the presentation plate, or can be wound onto a winding reel.

If the fastening point on the glasses is at the free rear end, the glasses will automatically be retracted into their resting position. However, a separate fastening part, such as a hole, would have to be provided at the end of the temples for this to happen.

Without an additional fastening option, the glasses can usually be secured to a narrow spot in the rear area using sufficiently tightly fastened loops of the steel cable to prevent theft.

In this way, the well-known, polygonal, rotating presentation columns for glasses can be created, whereby the surface facing the customer is mirrored and the holes are incorporated directly into the mirror surface.

For wristwatches and belts, the fastening can be done through the closed strap of the bracelet buckle or, in the case of self-contained bracelets, through the bracelet, although this does not guarantee 100% security against theft, since the spring bars with which the bracelets are attached to the watches can be opened with a small knife or even with brute force.

However, for the casual thief this is already too big a hurdle.

In the case of earrings, the fastening can be done either through an existing, self-contained opening in the earring or by soldering it onto the pin of the fastening plug, for example, which of course makes the attached sample piece unusable for sale. However, this is only necessary if not only is there no self-contained

&iacgr;&ogr; opening, but also no suitable taper of the object to be fastened, around which a suitably tight loop can serve as a fastening.

Embodiments according to the invention are described in more detail below by way of example with reference to the figures. They show:

Fig. 1 shows the cross-sectional view of the presentation plate 5, consisting of a perforated steel plate with a large number of holes 7.

As can be seen from the relationship between the size of the jewelry rings 2 and the thickness of the presentation plate 5, the perforated sheet of the plate 5 is only one or a few mm thick. The existing stable fastening of the presentation plate 5 to the substructure or the floor or a wall is not shown in Fig. 1.

On each of the holes 7, on which a jewelry ring 2 is to be presented, there is also a rubber ring 11,

for example an O-ring auY, 'the inner diameter of which should ideally be equal to or smaller, but not significantly larger than the diameter of the hole 7, so that the ring 2 rests reliably on the rubber ring 11 and not on a metal edge of the hole 7, even if the loosely lying rubber ring 11 shifts relative to the hole 7.

For this purpose, the outer diameter of the rubber ring

11 must be significantly larger than the diameter of the hole 7, namely at least 20% larger, in order to prevent the rubber ring 11 from partially sliding into the hole 7 or even completely slipping through. For this reason, sufficiently thick and thus stable rubber rings 11 in their circular shape must be provided.

Since the horizontal position of the presentation plate means that the viewing is mainly from above, the loop

12 through the ring 2 should be relatively large, so that when pulled back by the weight, the decorative element 20 arranged on the ring 2, for example a gemstone, will always be oriented essentially obliquely upwards.

Fig. 2 shows an inclined presentation panel 5 without showing its attachment to the wall or another supporting component.

In Fig. 2, the presentation of different goods, namely from top to bottom - a wristwatch 27, an ear stud 24 and a pair of glasses 14 is shown as an example:

The ear stud 24 is attached to the wire 3 by soldering the actual plug of the earring directly to the end of the wire 3. This can be done using a simple soldering point 22, as shown, or by attaching a sleeve that is open at the end to the corresponding end of the wire 3 for this purpose, which - as in electrical installation - is soldered to the plug of the earring 24 or crimped to it after it has been pushed onto it.

In order to prevent the wires 3 running downwards from the individual holes 7 from hanging too close to one another in the presentation plate 5, which rises steeply from bottom to top, which could cause knots, guide brackets 23 can be attached to the back of the presentation plate 5 either at each individual hole 7 or across an entire horizontal row of holes by hooking them into the presentation plate 5 by means of a nose 25 that extends through the hole 7.

The guide bracket 23 or the guide plate 23 guides the wire 3 on the back of the presentation plate 5, initially horizontally or diagonally downwards away from the presentation plate, and only at the free end of the guide bracket 23, which is preferably curved downwards, is the wire 3 directed vertically downwards due to the weight 4. By having different lengths of projections of the guide bracket 23, increasing from bottom to top along the presentation plate 5, a greater distance between the rows of wires 3 can be achieved than if they were hanging freely from the holes 7.

In the case of individual guide brackets 23 or individual guide plates 23 across the width of the presentation plate 5, these can only be hung in the rows of holes 7 in the direction of the arrow 29 that are to be occupied by presentation goods. This avoids an excessively large number of guide brackets 23. To improve the stability of the guide brackets 23, the support 32 running on the back below the hanging hole 7 can extend to the beginning of the row of holes below.

The example of the spectacles 14 presented shows that the guide arms 23, provided they are sufficiently wide in the depth of the image display, can take on a further function in that the arms 15 of the spectacles are stretched with their free ends through the holes 7', which must be suitably large for this purpose.

In order to prevent the temples 15 from being pulled vertically downwards by the weight forces and thus the glass surfaces of the glasses from being more or less vertically upwards, the guide temple 23' extends so far back that the temple 15 of the glasses can thereby assume the desired slightly downwardly inclined or almost horizontal position. For this purpose, the guide temple 23 is preferably longer than the temple 15 of the glasses.

&iacgr;&ogr; The glasses can, as shown, either be attached by a suitably narrow loop 12, the size of which is determined by the clamp 21, around the narrow part 16 of the arm 15, or by a hole in the free end of the arm 15, which, however, is not present in all glasses from the outset.

Fig. 2 also shows the presentation of a watch 27. The steel cable 3 is secured by the self-contained clasp

26 of the watch strap, but could also or additionally be guided through the closed eyelet on the movement 27 itself, to which the watch strap is attached. To make the attachment particularly secure, both types of attachment can be carried out in parallel.

When released, the clock 27 is not pulled towards the presentation plate 5 by the force of a weight, but by means of an automatically winding roller 17. The clock

The free end of the wire 3 facing away from the roller 17 is firmly connected to the body of the roller 17, which is usually subjected to force by a spiral spring 28 arranged inside. The roller 17 is mounted in a bearing block 13, which is also suspended or otherwise attached using lugs 25, preferably on two holes 7 arranged one above the other.

Should the bearing block come loose from its anchorage by itself or through active influence from a customer, the anti-theft protection is not affected, as the

interconnected unit* made of bearing bracket 30" and roller 17 is too large to fit through hole 7.

In addition, when the retracted position is reached, the clamp 21 runs against a stopper 31 made of springy, soft material to cushion the impact. The stopper 31 can also have a conically tapered inner contour in which the clamp 21 is braked by friction.

In Fig. 3, a display cabinet 34 for glasses 14 is shown. The middle part is designed as a display plate 5, with holes 7 through which the temples 15 are inserted as shown in Fig. 2 below.

Another solution is to attach the glasses to the joint between the temples and the glasses, so that the temples do not have to be pushed through the holes 7, but folded up and placed on the nose pads 35, as shown in the lower right-hand glasses in Fig. 3. However, this solution again requires the active assistance of the customer.

On the side of the middle part of the presentation furniture 34 there are mirrors 13 that can be folded forwards by up to 180° from the aligned position, with which the presentation area 5 can also be completely covered when sales are stopped.

To try on the glasses, the customer takes the desired glasses from the presentation furniture 34, which is located approximately at head or chest height, and puts them on, allowing him to look at himself by folding up the nearest mirror 13.

The mirrors 13 arranged on both sides allow a larger width of the presentation surface 5 while maintaining the same necessary extension length of the wires 3 on the two brackets 14.

Such a presentation piece of furniture would be designed the other way round for earrings, for example, with a fixed mirror surface in the middle and foldable on both sides

arranged presentation plate 5, where the customer can take out the left and right matching earring and hold it to her ear.

In order to prevent the glasses or other goods to be presented from automatically being pulled back onto the presentation plate 5 upon impact, other damping measures can be taken instead of the rubber rings 11 shown in Figure 2.

For example, the relevant side of the presentation plate 5 can be coated with a soft plastic by pouring or flocking, or a complete layer of a porous foam such as foam rubber can be applied.

Especially in the latter case, it is advisable to choose a foam board whose top side facing the customer is not flat, but has depressions whose grid matches the grid of holes in the presentation board 5, e.g. the soundproofing mats available as purchased parts with a large number of pyramids or cones on the surface. These boards are assigned to the presentation board 5 in such a way that a hole 7 in the presentation board 5 is located under each depression.

A wave-shaped or stepped design of the upper side of these plastic plates is also well suited, whereby the waves should then preferably be located on a contour line of the 30, presentation plate, and in turn the valleys should be aligned with the holes 7 of the presentation plate 5.

Fig. 4 again shows a detailed cross-section similar to Figure 2, but this time the presentation plate 5 is made of a much stronger material, for example a wooden plate. With this thickness of the presentation plate 5, the direction of the longitudinal axis of the holes 7 is important, among other things:

If this longitudinal axis is positioned perpendicular to the plane of the plate 5, the rope or wire 3 does not hang loosely through the hole 7, but rather drags on the rear edge in the lower area. If this is to be avoided, a pulley 41 is necessary at this point, as shown in Figure 4 in the uppermost position.

There, in the vicinity of the hole 7 on the customer side, an annular damping insert 36 can also be seen, which has an approximately rectangular cross-section and is set into a correspondingly designed groove around the upper edge of the hole 7, so that the presentation plate 5 retains its flat upper surface.

In contrast, in the middle position, a cross-sectional shape of the bore for hole 7 is selected which, from the customer side, initially has a larger and then a smaller diameter, which are connected via a horizontal annular surface 35 running perpendicular to the axis.

Since the direction of the hole is vertical, the horizontal ring surface is not only opposite the hole direction, but is horizontal overall. Ring 2 is thus held on a special, horizontal plane, which makes it easier to always return it to the same presentation position.

In order to additionally align the decorative element 20 of the ring 2 in a specific direction analogous to the viewing direction of the viewer, the wire 3 is not connected by means of a loose loop 12, but by means of a fastening 42 that cannot be moved along the ring, which when pulled back comes to rest in the area of the smaller diameter of the hole 7 and thus always ensures the same presentation position of the ring 2.

In the lowest position, a hole shape is selected in which the hole has a small diameter in the lower area, but in the upper area it tapers off into a

widening cone 38 in which the ring 2 comes to rest.

In Figure 4 it can also be seen that the weights 4 do not necessarily have to hang freely downwards, since sliding along an obliquely directed lower surface 43 also serves the same purpose.

In Figure 4, the rear side 44 is also shown with this diagonally

This is possible according to Figure 5 by means of a screw fastening known per se. The rope 3 is guided through the bushing 45 and the free end is bent over and again placed in the bushing 45 so that the desired loop 12 is created on one side of the bushing 45 around the goods to be secured.

A screw 46 is screwed through a threaded cross hole so far that its front face extends into the cavity of the bushing 45 and presses the two runs of the cable 3. The screw 46 can only be loosened with a special tool, because a triangular Allen key 47 is used.

In Figure 6, a substantially U-shaped clamp 48 is screwed with its free ends to a flat end piece 49, which is firmly connected to the cable 3, using an analogous screw 46. The width of the free space at the bottom

The end of the U-shaped clamp can be chosen as desired depending on the cross-sectional shape of the object to be secured, for example rings with a very flat and wide cross-section. For example, the pure U-shape can be modified into a mushroom-like shape with an analogous inner cavity.

With such connections, which can only be removed by the sales staff, the goods presented can be exchanged at any time if the stock of the corresponding part is exhausted or new goods are to be presented or a separate item is to be sold.

Figure 7 shows a further detailed solution for guiding the weights 4. The weights 4 are guided separately in individual tubular elements 50 instead of the guide plates 23 or in addition to them, whereby the extension length can be determined by limit screws screwed transversely into the tube at the desired location.

Only after removing the limit screw can the weight 4 be pulled out upwards, while it cannot leave the tubular element downwards due to the length of the rope 3.

As a result, the weight does not have to be permanently connected to the cable 3, but a positive connection transverse to the direction of movement is sufficient, for example by inserting a slot nut connected to the cable 3 into a slot corresponding to 0, equipped with undercuts and arranged transverse to the direction of movement of the weight 4. A piece of a simple T-profile can be used as the slot nut 52.

The connection or separation between rope 3 and weight 4 is carried out by first removing the limit screw 51 and then pulling the weight 4 upwards out of the tubular element 50.

In the transverse direction, the sliding block 52 and the weight 4 can be pushed apart.

Furthermore, a compression spring E50 underneath each weight 4 dampens the impact of the weight in its lowest position and thus prevents damage to the goods attached to it.
