Vibratory bottle for compacting concrete

Conventional vibrating plates on internal concrete vibrators cause high-frequency vibrations in a direction perpendicular to the cylindrical axis of the drum due to rotating imbalances. There are also devices that cause compaction in the form of slaps on the surface of the concrete.

This new vibrating cylinder vibrates {6) immersed in the liquid concrete between reinforcing bars perpendicularly or parallel to its central axis (4) by being moved by a short-stroke up and down drive, such as a jigsaw, via a rod (5). Its shape differs from the usual cylindrical one; it consists of a massive, elongated, round weight (Fig.) with high bellies {1) and deep waists (2), which is centrally attached to the vibrating rod (5). The vibrations (3) emanating from it act parallel (=») and diagonally {—*) and

transversely {-*) to the central axis (4) onto the surrounding concrete and the reinforcement bars. This corresponds, only with a much higher frequency and shorter strokes and therefore more effectively, to the conventional poking around by hand with rods between the reinforcements.
The advantages of this new vibrating bottle:

It is simple and inexpensive to produce.

It has no moving parts that wear out.

It does not contain its own drive.

It is maintenance-free and does not require cleaning. It takes up very little space for storage. It can be offered to new groups of buyers in hardware stores as an addition to the jigsaw, including the vibrating plate.

It is particularly suitable for smaller quantities of concrete in hard-to-reach places, where vibrators have usually not been used up to now.

The functioning model of this vibrating cylinder that I have made is attached to the vibrating plate (A.Z. 296 09 732.2) and driven by a jigsaw with up to 3000 strokes/min. The vibrating rod is 1 m long. Together with the vibrating plate, this vibrating cylinder is an additional device for the jigsaw that can be used at least in the hobby sector. Hand jigsaws that can be retrofitted with this vibrating plate (for screening, emptying concrete mixers, troughs, etc., for vibrating garden path slabs, for driving away voles in the garden ...) and with this concrete vibrating cylinder will certainly have a competitive advantage. This will appeal to new groups of buyers who have previously hardly asked for concrete compactors or vibrators, gardening enthusiasts, hobby bricklayers.

For professional use of this bulbous vibrating vessel in building construction, the size and drive would have to be adapted accordingly.

This new vibrating device - vibrating plate and vibrating bottle - is particularly suitable as an additional tool for commercially available small 80 l concrete mixers, because it can be used to empty the mixing drum - instead of using fists and shovels - and to compact concrete without the need for a lot of equipment.
