Bisher steuern elektrische Schaltungen die Bremslichter eines Kraftfahrzeuges in der Weise, daß sie nur bei Betätigung der Bremse aufleuchten, nicht aber automatisch, wenn das Fahrzeug zum Stillstand kommt. Probleme können z. B. entstehen, wenn der Fahrzeughalter beim Linksabbiegen halten muß und anschließend nicht mehr die Bremse betätigt, so daß die Bremslichter nicht mehr aufleuchten und somit der folgende Verkehr nicht mehr in erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit versetzt wird. Auch bei Staus stellt sich dieses Sicherheitsproblem. Die Warnblinkanlagen werden oft zu spät oder gar nicht eingeschaltet. Dieses Problem wird mit der in dem Schutzanspruch beschriebenen Bremslichterschaltung gelöst. Der nachfolgende Verkehr wird unabhängig von der Betätigung der Bremse gewarnt.
