The invention relates to spice mills according to the preamble of claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a spice mill for grinding different types of spices within a compact housing.

Spice mills of the usual design essentially have a grinding chamber, a grinder and a rotary handle. To grind, the rotary handle is operated and the grinding material falls into the grinder, where it leaves the mill in a ground state. When the mill is turned off, however, the grinding residue falls out of the grinder onto the table.

This problem is solved with the features listed in claim 1. The invention ensures that the grinding residues fall onto the pipe end in the base area of the mill when the mill is turned off after use, and thus the area underneath the mill always remains clean, since the material to be ground leaves the mill laterally through the perforation arranged underneath the grinding cone when it is inclined.

An advantageous embodiment of the invention is specified in claim 2. The development according to claim 2 for grinding with two grinders in the same housing allows the user to choose between two different types of ground material by simply turning the mill over. Since the ground material leaves the mill sideways, both grinders can be axially opposite each other, which benefits the compact appearance of the mill.

The invention is explained in more detail using three embodiments shown in the drawings.

The features listed in the protection claims can be varied in many different ways. In the variants shown in Figures 1 to 10, the adjusting nuts (4) are partially or completely recessed into the rotating lids (2, 2a, 2b). This ensures that the adjusting nut (4) is not accidentally adjusted when the handle (2) is turned, and on the other hand the mill can be placed on the rotating handle (2a, 2b). Figure 10 shows how compact the mill appears as a result.

Figures 1 to 8 show two embodiments of the mill for one type of ground material. The mill housing (1) is closed below the grinder by a housing closure (3) as a base and has at least one side opening (11) directly at the level above the base (3). This invention ensures that the ground material falls out of the mill at an angle during grinding in accordance with ergonomically sensible handling and that after use the grinding residues, which usually still crumble out of the grinder, ultimately remain on the base (3) in the mill.

In contrast, Figures 9 and 10, in which the same parts are otherwise designated with the same reference numbers as in the previous figures, show a spice or salt mill combination in which the lateral openings (11a, 11b) are arranged offset from one another on the circumference in the outer housing (1) and have a different shape and size. In the case of this embodiment, the tube end (13) is placed in the middle of the housing in such a way that two hermetically separated chambers (100a, 100b) for two different media, such as pepper and salt, are created in which the corresponding independently operable grinding mechanisms (6a/7a, 6b/7b) are arranged in mirror image on the same axis (Fig. 9).

In general, the individual figures show various embodiments of spice or salt mills according to the protection claims, either characterized in that a locking pin (12) is provided to secure the distance between the grinding cone (6) and the grinding ring (7) during filling of the grinding material chamber (100, 100a) (Fig. 1 and Fig. 9), or in that the spindle (5) has an extension (50) (Fig. 5) to secure the distance between the grinding cone (6) and the grinding ring (7) which protrudes beyond the grinder (6/7) and extends into the immediate vicinity of the base (3), which rests on the base (3) when the adjusting nut (4) is loosened and thus keeps the grinding cone (6) at a small distance from the grinding ring (7) which prevents the grinding material from trickling out.

The invention also makes it possible to grind directly over the cooking area, as rising steam does not reach the grinder and the escaping ground material does not stick to the grinder. An advantage that is appreciated by more than just professional chefs.

Spice or salt mill with a mill housing enclosing the grinding chamber and a rotary handle with adjusting nut on a spindle for adjusting the distance of the grinding cone from the grinding ring, characterized in that the mill housing (1) below the grinding mechanism with grinding ring (7) and grinding cone (6) is firmly closed by a plug-like housing closure (3, 13) as a base and the housing shell (1) has a lateral opening (11) in the plane immediately above the base (3). 2. Spice or salt grinder according to claim 1, characterized in that the housing (1) is provided with a central base (13) which delimits a grinding material chamber on both sides and in the chambers (100a, 100b) in the vicinity of the base (13) independently operable grinding mechanisms (6a/7a, 6b/7b) are arranged in a mirror image and on the same axis. 3. Spice or salt mill according to claim 1 and 2, characterized in that the spindle (5, 5a, 5b) and its adjusting nut (4) are completely enclosed by the rotary handle (2, 2a, 2b) in such a way that the rotary handle (2, 2a, 2b) forms a support plane for the mill. 4. Spice or salt mill according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a locking pin (12) is provided to secure the distance between the grinding cone (6) and the grinding ring (7) during the filling of the grinding material chamber (100, 100a). 5. Spice or salt mill according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the spindle (5) has an extension (50) for securing the distance between the grinding cone (6) and the grinding ring (7) which protrudes beyond the grinding mechanism (6/7) and extends into the immediate vicinity of the base (3), which extension rests on the base (3) when the adjusting nut (4) is loosened and thus keeps the grinding cone (6) at a small distance from the grinding ring (7) which prevents the ground material from trickling out. 6. Spice or salt mill according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the lateral openings (11, 11a, 11b) are arranged offset from one another on the circumference in the outer housing (1) and have a different shape and size.
