Description

Travel caravan

The invention relates to a travel caravan, in particular a motor home, with a rear compartment in the bodywork separated from the living area.

In a known vehicle of this type, the rear compartment is designed as a small vehicle garage with an inspection hatch and flaps on the side that serve as ramps (US-PS 4,854,631). A rear compartment with a gas and water supply room that can only be opened from the outside via a roller door is also known (DE-93 06 755 U1). However, these solutions only provide pure storage space with narrowly defined and non-flexible usage options.

The invention is based on the object of increasing the utility value and comfort of a travel caravan, in particular a motorhome, for sports or leisure activities.

This object is achieved according to the invention by a design of the travel caravan according to claim 1. Further advantageous details are specified in claims 2 to 8.

With the inventive design of a lock between the living area and the outside world that is fully integrated into the body and can be walked through at full standing height, a walk-in usable space has been created with the advantages of the living area (standing height, heating and theft protection) and at the same time with the advantages of external extensions (e.g. an awning for the wet room, or to relieve the load on the living area), which does not require any conversion or reloading measures between driving and stationary operation and which allows a high degree of flexibility in terms of its setup and use. Sports or leisure equipment and clothing can be stored separately from the living area both during travel and when stationary. The lock can also serve as a changing room with the doors closed, and wet items of clothing that have been put away can remain in the heated and self-draining room to dry. Furthermore, the room can be adapted to the needs of the respective users in terms of its furnishings and can be used in an advantageous configuration like a veranda with the outside door open.

In the drawing, 1 generally designates a motorhome, in whose body structure 2 a rear compartment 4 is integrated, separated from the living area 3 by a wall 3'. The basic spatial relationships are illustrated in Fig. 1

The lock character of the rear compartment 4 is recognizable, which has access to the living area 3 via a door 5 in the wall 3' and allows access to the outside via an external door 6 integrated into the rear wall designated 7. In addition, the living area 3 can have further entrances, such as the usual side door 8 or, in the case of a motorhome, the doors 8' of the driver's cabin connected to the living area.

The outer lock door 6 is shown in Fig. 2 in its design as a roller door. It is clear that the lock room has standing height and the large opening allows even bulky sports equipment to be loaded. The outer lock door 6 can extend almost across the entire width of the vehicle. This door 6 can also be designed as a single door hinged on the side, as a double-leaf door or as a one- or two-part flap that swings up and/or down.

The lock compartment can be designed with different interior fittings to suit different sports equipment and clothing. Fig. 4 shows, from left to right, designs for a) winter sports, b) diving and c) surfing. Numerous other designs of the interior fittings are conceivable and possible. The inner door 5 of the lock is closed in each case, which makes it clear that it can be used as a self-draining wet room and - with the outer door closed - as a changing room. In an advantageous embodiment, one or more extendable and/or foldable steps 9 are provided below the outer lock door 6.

Fig. 5 shows a design of the lock for loading long, bulky goods (e.g. skis). On the one hand, there is a feed 10 for a loading channel 11 running in the vehicle interior 3, and on the other hand, a lower part 12 of the rear wall 7 can be folded down to the side. This flap makes it possible to push the cargo into the loading channel 11 from the outside and possibly even to extend it outside the rear of the vehicle, for example to transport the mast of a sailing boat.

Claims (7)

Expectations: 1. Travel caravan, in particular a motor home, with a rear compartment separated from the living area in the bodywork, characterized in that the rear compartment (4) is designed in the manner of a lock which can be accessed from the outside and the inside through a door (6; 5), the lock being provided with optionally different interior fittings for accommodating sports or leisure equipment to suit different types of sport or leisure activities. 2. Travel caravan according to claim 1, characterized in that the outer door (6) of the rear compartment (4) is designed like a roller door. 3. Travel caravan according to claim 2, characterized in that the roller door extends almost over the width of the rear area of the body structure (2). 4. Travel caravan according to claim 1, characterized in that the outer lock door (6) is designed either as a single or double-leaf door or as a flap which can be pivoted upwards and/or downwards. ^J 5.
