Diese Ausführung hat einerseits den Vorteil, daß der Matratzenbezug keine Haltefunktion und somit keine die druck verteilende Wirkung eines Wasserbettes beeinträchtigende Oberflächenspannung hat. Bei dem von der Firma Strada angebotenen Bett haben beide Profile einen rechtwinklig viereckigen Querschnitt. Das obere Profil steckt in einer Textiltasche, die eine an der Umrandungs-Innenseite bis auf die Bodenplatte herabreichende Fahne hat, mit der sie auf der Bodenplatte festgeschraubt ist. Bei der von der Firma WOHNFORM angebotenen Ausführungsform hat die Umrandung einen sich innenseitig nach unten geradlinig verbreiternden Querschnitt.Meanwhile, so-called "soft-side" versions are also evident through general distribution. Das Bett soll eine elastische Bettkante haben, auf der man ohne schmerzhaften Druck unter den Oberschenkeln sitzen kann. Die Umrandung soll aber in der Weise formstabil sein, daß sich auch nach längerer Zeit keine seitliche Ausbauchung einstellen kann. Bei dem in der Zeichnung dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiel sind die Hinterschneidung des unteren Profils 6 und dementsprechend der vorspringende Querschnittsbereich am unteren Teil des oberen Profils geradlinig keilförmig ausgebildet. Diese einfache Form kommt der einfachen Art der Herstellung des oberen Profils 5 entgegen, wonach dieses aus einem Block von elastischem offenzelligen Kunststoffschaum ausgeschnitten wird. Bei einer weiterentwickelten Ausführung des elastischen oberen Profils 5 ist dessen Oberfläche wasserdicht geschlossen.
