Die Neuerung betrifft eine Arbeits- bzw. Abdeckplatte nach dem Oberbegriff des Schutzanspruchs 1.The innovation concerns a worktop or cover plate according to the generic term of claim 1.

Bei freistehenden elektrischen Haushaltsgeräten, wie z.B. Waschmaschinen, elektrischen Wäschetrocknern, Geschirrspülmaschinen, Kühlgeräte, ist es seit langem allgemein üblich, als oberseitigen Abschluß des Gerätegehäuses eine Abdeckplatte {sogenannte Arbeitsplatte) aus kunststoffbeschichteten holzartigen Werkstoff, beispielsweise Presspan- oder Hartfaserplatten, zu verwenden. Solche Abdeckplatten sind zum Schütze ihrer Schnitt- bzw. Kantenfläche mit einer angespritzten KunststoffUmrandung versehen. Diese Abdeckplatten weisen nun den Nachteil auf, daß hier mehrere unterschiedliche Materialien unlösbar miteinander verbunden sind und deshalb praktisch nicht zu recyclen sind. Weiterhin sind . Abdeckplatten für Gerätegehäuse bekannt, die aus mindestens drei Bauteilen -Deckplatte, plattenartiges Stützelement, Randeinfassung- bestehen und durch eine Steckverbindung miteinander verbunden sind. Sowohl die Deckplatte 2 als auch das Stützelement 3 bestehen zweckmäßig aus dem gleichen Kunststoff-Material und sind zu einer einstückigen Montage-Einheit zusammengefaßt. Die Deckplatte 2 ist mit einer angeformten Randeinfassung 4 versehen. Das Stützelement 3 wird von der Randeinfassung 4 der Deckplatte 2 umschlossen, wodurch dieses von der Deckplatte haubenartig überdeckt ist. Durch eine Vielzahl angeformter Segmente 5 (Stege) ist das plattenartige Stützelement 3 versteift. Das Stützelement 3 kann auch waben- oder gitterartig ausgebildet werden.
