Abstract

The bar is made in two or more sections, to which the member (4) is fixed in different positions at intervals in the lengthwise direction. The sections each have a row of holes (5), in which the member is detachably fixed via lugs on it. At their ends, the sections have mating locking recesses and protrusions, by which they are rigidly but detachably secured together. The member can be U-shaped where it fits onto the bar, which it encloses by lateral flanges. It can also have locking protrusions, by which it engages in an angular recess in the bar.

Description

Locking bar for central locking systems on furniture

The present invention relates to a locking bar for central locks on furniture, wherein the locking bar is composed of at least two bar elements and has at least one actuating member that can be fastened in different positions in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the bar and that interacts directly or indirectly with a lock of a central lock.

Locking bars of the aforementioned type are known per se and are used to unlock or lock several drawers or doors of a piece of furniture that are located in a row after a lock has been operated.

In furniture with drawers, such locking bars are designed in such a way that after one drawer is pulled out, all other drawers are automatically locked to prevent the furniture from tipping over.

The present invention is based on the object of creating a locking rod of the generic type in which the actuating member can be fixed in different positions in a simple manner and which can also be changed in its length in an equally simple manner.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the individual rod elements have a uniform row of holes in which the actuating member provided with locking cams can be releasably secured and that the individual rod elements have locking recesses on the one hand and locking projections on the other hand at their ends located in the mutual connection area and are rigidly but releasably connected to one another via the locking means.

With such a locking bar, the actuating element can be easily and effortlessly fixed in different positions according to the specified row of holes, so that the arrangement of the actuating element can be quickly adapted to the mounting position of a lock on a piece of furniture.

The locking connection between the individual rod elements makes it possible to connect rod elements of different lengths in a simple manner, so that the overall length of a locking rod can be easily and quickly adjusted to a piece of furniture of a given size.

In Figure 1, the reference number 1 designates a locking bar for a central locking mechanism on a piece of furniture 2, which is equipped with several drawers 3.

The locking rod 1 consists of at least two rod elements la of the same or different length, as shown in Figures 2a to 2d. At least one actuating member 4 is fixed to the locking rod 1, whereby such an actuating member 4 interacts with a lock of a central locking device (not shown in more detail) of the furniture 2.

According to the present invention, the individual rod elements la are provided with a uniform row of holes 5, whereby the distance between the individual holes of the respective rows of holes 5 corresponds to the standard dimensions usual in furniture construction.

Each actuating member 4 is provided with locking cams 6 (see Fig. 3 and 4) which can be snapped into the individual holes in the rows of holes 5. This enables an actuating member 4 to be easily and securely fixed in different positions along the locking rod 1.

As Figures 3 and 4 also show, the actuating member 4 is provided with a U-shaped cross-section in the connection area to the locking rod 1, this cross-section being selected such that the side legs 7 laterally engage around the locking rod 1, so that the actuating member 4 is easily secured against twisting or tilting.

In addition, the actuating member 4 is equipped with several locking cams 8, which rest in the corner points of angular recesses 9 of the locking rod 1 and thus provide additional positional security for the actuating member 4.

As Figures 5 to 8 in particular make clear, the individual rod elements la are provided on their ends in the mutual connection area with locking recesses 10 on the one hand and with locking projections 11 on the other hand, whereby the locking recesses 10 are located in the area of a T-shaped depression 12 at the end of one rod element la and the locking projections 11 are formed on the correspondingly T-shaped end of the other rod element la. After the two ends have been put together, a rigid but detachable connection of the two rod elements la is ensured, and the entire connecting rod 1 is not thickened in its cross-section in the connection area due to the selected construction.

An additional securing of the connection is achieved by a nose 13 projecting in the direction of the longitudinal axis at the T-shaped end of a rod element la, which, in the locked state, engages in an opening 14 in the corresponding, T-shaped recessed area 12 of the other rod element la.

Both the rod elements la and the actuating member 4 are advantageously made in one piece from plastic.

The individual rod elements la can optionally be equipped at both of their ends with the locking means 10, 11 described above, such as the rod element la shown in Figure 2a; it is also conceivable that the individual rod elements la are provided with locking means 10 or 11 only at one of their ends.

As Figure 3 clearly shows, the actuating member 4 is equipped with an integrally formed leg 15 which runs parallel to the locking rod 1 at a distance from this locking rod 1 and has an elongated hole 16 which also runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the locking rod 1.

The mentioned leg 15 is connected via a predetermined breaking point 17 to the section 18 of the actuating member 4 which runs at right angles to the locking rod 1.

Depending on the installation situation, the slotted hole 16 of the leg 15 can be used as a guide aid in conjunction with a guide pin on the furniture side.

If the leg 15 is not required due to the furniture construction or even makes correct assembly difficult or hindered, the entire leg 15 can be easily broken off along the predetermined breaking point 17 and removed.

Protection claims Locking rod for central locks on furniture, the locking rod being composed of at least two rod elements and having at least one actuating member which can be fastened in different positions in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the rod and which interacts directly or indirectly with a lock of a central lock, characterized in that the individual rod elements (la) have a uniform row of holes (5) in which the actuating member (4) provided with locking cams (6) can be releasably secured and that the individual rod elements (la) have, on the one hand, locking recesses (10) and, on the other hand, locking projections (11) at their ends lying in the mutual connection area and are rigidly but releasably connected to one another via these locking means (10, 11).
