Verfahren zum Reinigen von Nitrierbaumwolle. Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 14. Juli 1914 ab.Method of cleaning nitrided cotton. Patented in the German Empire on July 14, 1914.
The cellulose intended for nitration may now be used for celluloid production or for The production of gunwool or rayon must be free of grease and oil in order to be used nitriding evenly, and should contain mineral components in the smallest possible quantities contain. Therefore, the most preferred raw material is cotton, which was originally used represents the purest cellulose and is also relatively light of its impurities can be released. After all, for this purpose the cotton must be subjected to a rather lengthy process, that consists in first degreasing them with caustic soda and then bleaching them with chlorine and finally exposed to acidic washing. To the effect of alkaline cooking to support, the proposal has already been made to add soap to the belly eyes. It has now been found that cleaning the cotton in this way can be carried out much faster and, moreover, is much more extensive if instead of the Soap is an emulsion of excess free fatty acid with soap used as an additive to the lye it is advantageous to allow the cotton to be treated with the lye at a temperature which is much lower than the usual, and expediently well below 100 ° C.
Thanks to these measures, it is sufficient to use a far weaker lye than it is for normal procedure is required. Furthermore, despite the use of the weaker Lye both the cooking time of the cotton with the lye and the chlorine compared the time required for the usual treatment is significantly shortened will.
Regardless of the abbreviated treatment, according to the invented method, a much better cleaning of the cellulose achieved. Have comparatively employed experiments showed that a cotton which, after the usual treatment, 0.5 percent ash and Contains 0.2 percent fat, due to the treatment according to the invented method brought an ash content of 0.10 percent and a fat content of 0.07 percent can be. Furthermore, the analyzes of the cellulose purified according to the invention show among themselves only a fluctuation of 0.01 percent, while the difference among the ordinary Method is 0.1 percent. So it turns out that the cotton after new processes are also cleaned more evenly, which is of great advantage for nitration is because no uneven degrees of nitration can occur.
